The Worsley Arms Hotel

The Worsley Arms is a privately operated twenty bedroom hotel in the centre of Hovingham, considered to be one of North Yorkshires most beautiful villages.
Hovingham is located just twenty five minutes from the centre of York and just a short drive from Castle Howard.
The hotel offers a variety of options for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Depending on the size of your party the hotel can be booked on an exclusive use basis.
At the Worsley Arms we are proud of the personal service that we offer to our wedding guests and we endeavour to provide a service that is both flexible and professional, never forgetting that it is your special day.
Though spring and summer are the most popular months associated with weddings winter should not be discounted. The Worsley Arms with its log fires glowing and curtains drawn against the elements makes a cosy intimate location for romantic winter weddins.

Civil Ceremonies
We have a number of rooms available for civil ceremonies; the morning room is the most intimate and can cater for up to 16 guests. The Kent room located on the first floor has a capacity for 50 seated guests for the ceremony. Our largest room which will accommodate 100 guests is the dining room located on the ground floor.
All the ceremony rooms have various options for the lay out to help create the atmosphere that suits your mood.

Wedding Breakfasts
The Wedding Breakfast is so called because it is the first meal of the day that the Bride and Groom will share. This celebration can take many forms from informal in the garden to a seated banquet in the marquee. All weddings are special so we guarantee that no matter what the size of your party we will only accommodate one wedding reception per day.
All the rooms mentioned above can also be used for wedding receptions, in addition for the summer   months we also have our garden marquee which opens straight on to our large walled garden.
Using the marquee allows us to cater for larger parties in comfort and can be expanded if numbers exceed 120 guests for a seated reception.
The marquee is provided with ivory linings, brass pendant chandeliers, red carpet and dance floor. This large space offers flexibility and endless options to help create the day of your dreams.
Meal styles include cold carved buffets, hot buffets, served meals and the increasingly popular carved joint at the table option. During an informal chat we would be delighted to run through all the options with you.

Please see our special offer which we will be running for weddings through autumn and winter.

Come and meet us at our Wedding Fair on Sunday 12th May 2013 for further details please contact Tony or Amanda on 01653 628234

      The Perfect Venue!
We celebrated our wedding here in July 2012, and were absolutely floored by the by the care Tony, Nicci and their team took over our day, from the day we walked in off the street to check the place out, to the moment we left after spending a fantastic weekend in their capable hands. From the moment we met Tony, just a few months before we planned to get married, he was completely in tune with what we wanted - completely professional but also more than approachable; in the run up to the day I appreciated his calm more than I realised at the time! Nicci was on hand too, at every step of the way to make sure our menus were just perfect (for one half of the family, it was their first English wedding, so we were anxious to please our guests, but Tony and Nicci were also keenly aware that we had a strict budget to keep to.) Though we were trying to keep our costs down as best we could, the staff never showed us anything less than full priority, ensuring we were the only wedding taking place that weekend, assisting in everything from recommending hairdressers (there is one across the street; my bridesmaids and I booked her out for the morning of the wedding and can highly recommend) to setting up our tables when they realised we were pushed for time. All in all, the weekend was perfect; I can honestly say that there was nothing to complain about. Food: beautiful; hospitality (and turning a blind eye when the disco went on a little longer than anticipated): second to none; venue: picturesque and very capably-staffed. We felt so welcomed and looked after, and would recommend them warmly.

      WOW WOW WOW
We were looking for somewhere really special and boy did we find it. Tony and his staff looked after us so well. The hotel and food were fantastic and more than we could have wished for. All our guests commented on how brilliant the place/day and wedding was. If you're looking for an idyllic, beautiful country setting for your wedding then look no further.

Perfect for a relaxed country wedding
When we were looking for a wedding venue we had a long wish list. We wanted to have the wedding and the reception at one venue with a beautiful outside space, great food and somewhere our family and friends would feel relaxed and comfortable. Far too many of the venues we looked at expected us to fit into one of their template weddings. It was the stunning garden that made us consider the Worsley and once we’d tasted the food we were sold. Tony never once tried to dictate how our day should go but worked with us and offered helpful advice to make sure we got just the day we wanted. On our actual wedding day in May 2012 everything went perfectly. Every time I wondered if something had been done I found that Tony and the team had taken care of it (down to tiny details like making sure the groom had first call on the iron the morning of the wedding!). All of our guests commented on how relaxed and absolutely ‘us’ the wedding was. This year we returned for a relaxing break over our first anniversary. Once again the welcome was warm and friendly, the food excellent and the atmosphere put us completely ease. It is wonderful to have found a wedding venue we can keep going back too and we’re certain we will.

      Couldn't have wished for more
We married at the Worsley Arms in September 2011. We'd spent quite some time searching for a wedding venue in the York area, but not quite found that place that place that was right for us - until we came across the Worsley Arms. As soon as we made our first visit we could just see ourselves and our guest there, it seemed to tick every box, a beautiful village location, lovely gardens, a room to hold the ceremony, an optional marquee for the reception (which we took and would definately recommend) and friendly staff. The day itself was a resounding success, Tony and his team were absolutely without fault, the food was fantastic, the setting perfect and it was a day which was enjoyed by all. We could not have imagined a better day.

      Pretty setting for countryside wedding
We got married in May 2012. We had a smallish wedding of 40 people and wanted a traditional, but informal wedding somewhere we could have the ceremony and reception at the same place with no time limitations. Hovingham itself is a really pretty village, so there are some great backdrops for photographs. It’s only about half an hour’s drive from York, and if guests book and share taxis from York station, the return fares are very good value. The Worsley Arms is an old and inviting hotel, with cozy sitting rooms and a great garden – the weather was good on our wedding so we were able to stay out in the garden for the evening. The food was really delicious, and the options to choose from were so many that it can be difficult to chose. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and professional and made sure each part of the day rolled smoothly to the next so that we didn’t need to worry or even think about anything other than enjoying the day. We had a fantastic day.

Beautiful venue and very helpful Danielle and I held our wedding reception on he 7th July 2012 in the marquee at the Worsley Arms. We had a fantastic day and would recommend the Worsley Arms to anyone wanting a memorable day. Thank you to all the help from Mr T Finn and his staff

      Highly recommended wedding venue
We got married in April 2012 at The Worsley Arms and had a wonderful wedding day. The hotel suited our needs perfectly and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was excellent and the hotel has a good selection of rooms available. This venue also offered very good value for money compared to some of the other venues we looked at. Thank you once again to Mr Finn and his team.

Excellent day in a great venue
From arrival at the venue, following ceremony elsewhere, the celebrations at the Worsley Arms were well organised and everything went to plan. The host, Mr Finn, was extremely attentive and ensured that everything ran smoothly. A very enjoyable day, lovely food in a great venue.

1st Class friendly service, beautiful location!
We were married in March 2011 and the Hotel staff helped make it a fantastic day! The hotel itself and it's facilities are excellent. Ours was only a 'small family do', but nothing was too much trouble for Mr Finn and his professional, yet friendly staff. Every detail was taken care of, leaving us to enjoy our day! The food was brilliant. I cannot recommend The Worsley Arms highly enough. Plus, although money was not an issue, the overall cost was extremely good value. You will not be disappointed if you 'got hitched' at this lovely hotel in the very picturesque village of Hovingham. Go for it!

      Absolutely Wonderful
We had marquee reception in the garden of the Worsley Arms (May 2012) which was absolutely wonderful. Tony and his staff were friendly, efficient and courteous for the whole day, and indeed the whole weekend. All the guests were full of praise for the venue, and many of them plan to go and stay in Hovingham again. Tony's experience of hosting weddings was invaluable, and he offered us sound and unbiased advice for many aspects of the preparation for our big. We can't recommend the Worsley Arms highly enough.
