First class wedding venue & exceptional value for
By Elaine C, on 22 Apr 2013
We had our wedding at The Wordworth on 1st July this year and had an amazing time from start to finish. Catalin the manager and all the staff were fabulous! Planning a wedding can be very stressful, espeicially when it's away from home, but I can't thank everybody at the hotel enough for all the help and support they gave, Catalin most of all, who is very organised and answered questions we'd not even thought of! The hotel is beautiful in a wonderful little village, the rooms very comfortable and the food delicious, especially our 5 course wedding breakfast! We look forward to our next visit to The Wordsworth and many more to come.
A Perfect Wedding
By Nigel R, on 22 Apr 2013
We first stayed at the Wordsworth in December 2011, again in June 2012 and then had our Wedding there in August 2012.
Firstly the setting and location of the hotel is perfect for all of us that love England's green and pleasant land and the village of Grasmere is delightful.
The hotel itself has a variety of rooms, all of which are excellent and the vast majority with great views.
Every time we have eaten there (including a Wedding Breakfast for 80 guests) the food has been faultless.
Finally the team and management are friendly and approachable. Catalin the manager filled us with confidence the moment we met him and then he and his team delivered a perfect day that we will never forget. We highly recommend the hotel and will be returning there in the very near future.
Wonderful Wedding Venue

Had our wedding reception here and had the most amazing day of our lives. The hotel setting is idyllic, set in one of the most beautiful villages in the Lake District. The hotel itself is a beautiful lakeland stone building set in stunning grounds and is beautifully decorated, we stayed in The Ruskin Suite which was absolutely gorgeous and had great views of the gardens and mountains.
The staff at The Wordsworth are fantastic. Very welcoming, organised and efficient they helped us so much with the planning of our wedding from start to finish and made us feel very special, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Our stay at The Wordsworth was everything we wanted and more, I would highly recommend staying there, we can't wait to come back and stay again and are already talking about booking to stay for our 1st wedding anniversary (although I hope we can come back before that!) and if you are thinking of getting married in the Lake District there really is no better venue in our opinion. A very special place!
The most idyllic setting

We set a real challenge to the team as it was a wedding for 200 people over the whole weekend and they came through on all fronts. The rooms and ambience of the hotel were wonderful, the staff were friendly and efficient, the chef outstanding and the management team totally on the case. Iain , the owner and his daughter Polly with their depth of experience made sure every detail was covered and the event ran totally efficiently. Unfortunately we weren't lucky with the weather but white brollies appeared as if by magic and in such a lovely venue it had no impact on everybody's full enjoyment of the event. I can strongly recommend it to anybody who wants the most magical place in the world for their most special day. You pulled it off for us , thank you to everybody at the Wordsworth
My Daughters big day
By Rod, on 22 Apr 2013
We held my daughter's wedding at the Wordsworth this weekend, and I cannot praise the staff and the venue highly enough. The hotel is located right in the heart of the village of Grasmere ("the loveliest spot that man hath ever known" W.Wordsworth). The owner was charming and extremely helpful (two of our guests forgot to bring their Dinner Jackets and somehow at the eleventh hour he managed to produce two replacements - one his own). The staff were amazing - very friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them. The late afternoon candlelit dinner for over 80 guests in the restaurant was superb (both food and service). The bedrooms are large, well presented and extremely comfortable, as are the lounges, bars and restaurant. The hotel grounds are extensive and well-kept, with ample parking facilities. The only disappointment was the weather - it rained - a lot - but then it was the Lake District and it was November. Anyone seeking a first class wedding venue should take a very serious look at this hotel- I cannot recommend it highly enough. The icing on the cake for us was the beautiful St Oswalds Church next door, where the wedding ceremony took place.

We had our wedding reception here and I can't praise the hotel or it's staff enough. In the build up to our big day the management were professional, helpful and always on hand with any questions we might have.
On the day of the wedding nothing was too much trouble, all the staff, from the receptionists to the waiters and waitress were absolutely brilliant. The dining room, set for 80 guests looked beautiful and was dressed perfectly as I was busy upstairs getting ready.
The food was fantastic, and served beautifully. So many of our guests commented on the excellent service and food, which was so nice to hear after so many months of planning.
The owner too went beyond the call of duty, as well as being on umbrella duty for me and my bridesmaids, he also lent suits to not one, but two of our guests who had forgotten theirs!, he also took us off in his own car to the most perfect beauty spot for photos we will cherish forever.
If you are thinking of The Wordsworth for your wedding, think no more, it's cosy, friendly, central and has wow factor without being stuffy. Breakfast was great too.
Lots of happy memories, from a bride (who normally worries about anything and everything) who could leave all those worries at the door!
My daughters wedding

We arrived on Friday 30th November for my daughter's wedding weekend. The service and attention to detail was superb throughout.
All the guests in our party complimented the rooms and the stunning location. The team at the hotel worked hard to make sure we all had a wedding occasion to remember.
Many of our party are planning to visit again.
Well done to all at the Wordsworth hotel!
The perfect location for a magical winter wedding
By Julia B, on 22 Apr 2013
My wedding at the Wordsworth Hotel December 22, 2012, was truly magical.
The public rooms are relaxed yet very stylish. The bedrooms (we had one of the suites) are stunning, and our guests appreciated that we put them -up in such comfortable surroundings and many made us of the pool and spa.
The Wordsworth staff are excellent: the wedding planner is permanently calm and so accommodating. Everything is taken care of – they are a well oiled professional team, which takes the stress away.
The wedding breakfast food was stunning. I am a vegetarian and have eaten in many top restaurants, and I have to say the four-course meal that was served was the best I have ever eaten: completely stunning. It felt like restaurant food of a very high standard, not your usual cold, uninspired wedding fodder. All my guests were really delighted with the food, and breakfast the following day did not disappoint. The service in the restaurant was also top-notch – these are professionals who clearly take pride in their job and it shows.
All told I can not rate the Wordsworth highly enough. I am not someone who has dreamed of a wedding since the age of 5, but if I had the Wordsworth would have it! I have had so many cards saying that it was the loveliest and most relaxed wedding they had been to – largely down to the staff and their attitude.
A truly magical day

We knew the Wordsworth was the perfect venue for us as soon as we drove past the huge garden. Our guests couldn't believe how luxurious it was and having the whole hotel to ourselves made it feel like the best house party ever. From start to finish the support from the staff was fantastic and I never thought I would be able to relax on the day but I had nothing to worry about. Thank you all
