      Beautiful to photograph, wonderful venue
I photographed a wedding here last summer and the venue played a very important and successful part in the photographs. Lottie and Mick''s wedding looked beautiful, and the vintage touches of The George combined with the excellent service provided by the staff resulted in a wonderful day. Lottie and Mick''s wedding at The George is featured in the current issue of Cosmo Bride magazine.

Glorious stay at the George in Rye
I have just spent 4 days at The George and could not be more enchanted with every detail of the trip. The Hotel is spectacularly beautifully decorated, calm and elegant and relaxing, i wish that my own house managed to mix old and new so seamlessly. All the staff were amazingly friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, we felt really well looked after. We had the gourmet tasting menu with specially selected wines with each course, which was truly indulgent and absolutely delicious! I cannot find a single fault with the George in Rye, I just feel so lucky to have found it, and keep raving to all my friends about how they should definately book themselves a little bit of luxury soon!

      Gorgeous George
My husband and I are regular visitors to The George. Since the refurb it has become our favourite UK retreat - we love exploring the area and find the hotel fabulously informal, while being extremely well-run. The place has been miraculously transformed by the Clarkes - the rooms are gorgeous with luxurious touches, the bar and restaurant equally so. The food is fantastic and we are always assured of a warm welcome. Other people clearly share our view - booking ahead is advised!

      Sussex Jewel
We loved our weekend at The George in Rye. We had read the many glowing reviews about the stylish design, the food, and the intimate atmosphere, so we arrived with high expectations. We were not to be disappointed. Everything the critics have written about this little jewel is true. The room was beautiful. The food was delicious and the staff were welcoming and constantly attentive. We will certainly visit The George again.

      Extemely stylish
We stayed at The George recently and were very impressed with this hotel. Our room number 10, although somewhat small and with limited daylight, was beautifully and tastefully decorated, situated at the top of the hotel in the eaves. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the bathroom contained a claw-footed bath but no shower. There was also no wardrobe but there were hooks in the bathroom on which you could hang clothes - this was by no means ideal but for a two-night stay, it was adequate. The hotel is run by a very young team - the average age being mid-twenties but they were all very friendly and very accommodating. The meals were of good quality with a fair amount of choice - in particular the lunch menu, and the bar was a lovely place in which to sit after a day''s exploring there is also a courtyard garden which was also very peaceful and private. Wine choice however was limited. Rye itself is very pretty with lovely little cobbled streets and quaint period houses. There are numerous coffee shops, cream tea places and bric-a-brac stores some of which were quite amusing and also some gift places. We visited Camber beach as the weather was so warm and sunny which is only a 10 minute drive from the hotel a lovely way to spend an afternoon. The only downside to the hotel is the fact that there is no parking available so you are directed to park at the local station which is a 10 minute walk away - this costs £3 per 24 hours and we were worried about the security aspect of this. I think the hotel should try and provide some sort of secure parking by maybe trying to acquire some more land in the area. There are also a lot of stairs within the hotel which posed a problem for a majority of the older guests who had decreased mobility. I would definitely stay here again - it is one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in - no noise heard from other rooms in the evening or morning and absolutely no noise could be heard from the street outside - I thoroughly recommend for a peaceful break.

Lovely hotel with modern comforts within a glorious beamed buiding
This hotel cleverly retains the beautiful and plentiful oak beams of the past and has combined this with the modern comforts expected of a classy hotel. A great combination!

      Perfect Weekend!
We have just returned from a perfect weekend away at the George in Rye. We arrived on the Friday night from London to be greeted by curteous, friendly staff. We were shown to our room on the first floor, overlooking the streets of Rye. We had booked a standard double and the room was lovely, as mentioned in other reviews the room was a bit small but this wasn''t a problem at all as it was comfortable and full of nice little touches - lavender pillows, the radio playing classical music as we came in etc. The bathroom was perfect with a deep bath and a monsoon shower, as well as gorgeous Aveda products. We had reserved a table in the bar on the Friday night and a table in the restaurant on the Saturday night. Both nights the food was fantastic and the wine list was extensive and very reasonable. We had breakfast in the dining room on the Saturday and as an indulgent treat - in bed on the Sunday. We wanted a relaxing, get away from it all weekend, and this is exactly what we had. We will definitely be going back - sooner rather than later hopefully!

What a perfect way to spend a weekend
We spent my 33rd birthday weekend at The George in Rye and I can honestly say that it was a pretty perfect weekend. We stayed in Room 1 which is the most expensive as we wanted a bit of a treat - wow. Huge, beautifully designed, full of little touches like hot water bottles, fresh coffee but I think that it was the bathroom that made it. The shower was out of this world - two enormous shower heads lovely claw-foot bathtub. Perfect. Food was all local and really excellent - Romney Marsh lamb, fresh fish. Even the wine list was interesting, try the local English wine, honestly it''s good! The only thing that I would say is that I wish that the menu changed a bit more from day to day as we ended up taking all our meals there. Also there could have been some lighter, less rich options. But a small comment given the whole experience.

      Lovely boutique Hotel
We have just had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at The George in Rye. We had a wonderful time! We stayed in Room Number 6 overlooking a very quiet side street. The room was a just comfortable size whilst the bathroom was huge. Very comfortable bed with gorgeous bedlinen and nice touches like scented lavender bags. In room tea and coffee making facilites. A call for fresh milk was quicker than the time it took for the kettle to boil! The wallpaper was a tad busy for my liking, but really that''s just nit picking....... The bathroom was large with a rolltop bath and great shower. All was spotlessly clean. The restaurant served excellent food, both for breakfast and dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. Do try the local English wine, it was a revelation. We would definitely return and would happily reccommend this lovely Hotel.
