The Barn at the Square & Compass is the perfect venue for a wedding in rural Somerset.

We specialise in very relaxed weddings with the emphasis on very, very good food and can provide the civil wedding ceremony, reception and a party in the evening, as well as overnight accommodation in our new en-suite hotel rooms for yourselves and for guests. The whole day can be arranged for you if you wish, or you can organise parts of it yourself.

There are plenty of venues which provide very formal weddings, however, our speciality is that the whole day revolves around an exceptionally good quality, generous, modern banquet in the afternoon. We find that if the food is really good then everything else just falls into place.

We know that our prices are very competitive but have set them according to our needs, not to what other venues are charging. You will be told exactly what the cost will be with no nasty hidden extras added near the time or on the day!

We have been running a pub and restaurant here for 12 years and doing weddings in the Barn for 7 years, winning a place in several prestigious pub and food guides. Our aim is to do 30 or 40 weddings a year so as not to get too stale. Every wedding we have held has been a fantastic success.

If you decide to book your wedding we like to meet up two or three times beforehand so that on the day we and our large team of young enthusiastic staff know your requirements exactly.

      Thank you so much for making our special day one truly to remember. Yourselves and your staff, in particular Amanda, worked tirelessly to produce a beautiful wedding venue in the barn, idyllic surroundings, some of the best food our guests have ever had and a gracious service to everyone from 1pm to 1am. We had a friend at our wedding who owns two hotels in Wales that provide wedding breakfast services. He was our benchmark in terms of quality. He could not get enough of the food, to the extent that his wife was instructing him not to have any more main course or sweet to ensure he would still fit into his suit the following day! He managed to sneak two massive helpings of each and stood afterwards like a guilty schoolboy knowing he did wrong but inside was happy! We cannot praise you all highly enough, echoed by every one of our 150 guests. We look forward to enjoying many more meals and future events at your venue.

      My wife and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to you, your wife and all the staff for the excellent organisation for the wedding of our daughter at 'The Barn' on Saturday 21st June. The food was superb, of great variety, excellently presented and very plentiful. The floral decorations would have to be seen to be believed, they were phenomenal. We have had phone calls from guests expressing how much they enjoyed the day. We will most certainly recommend 'The Barn' to anyone who is looking for a venue for a celebration. Very many thanks for making the occasion such a success and very memorable.
