Stanwell House Hotel

Stanwell House is licensed for Civil Marriages and provides a dramatic setting for that most romantic of days. The ceremony takes place in our Conservatory, a bright, elegant room with old York stone flags, stylish rattan chairs . Dressed properly for a wedding, the room offers a romantic and original option for your special day. Various dining options are available, you name it and we will probably be able to do it.

Overlooking the garden, the adjoining Bistro area is perfect, with wooden floors, neutral coloured walls, black and cream leather chairs and huge steel mirrors which look spectacular by candlelight. We can also by prior arrangement offer the whole hotel for exclusive use to your wedding party.

Please do not hesitate to contact the hotels Functions Manager, Annette Oldfield who will be delighted to show you around Stanwell House Hotel and/or answer any questions you may have.

      Beautiful Romantic venue
we were there as guests for a wedding in April 2011 - it was beautifully organised, the food was delicious, the garden - small but very pretty and there was a very charming, friendly and intimate atmosphere. The staff were excellent and very quickly re-arranged the rooms after the wedding ceremony for a delicious feast! lovely rooms to stay in too and Lymington is a charming sea side town.

      Perfect in everyway
I loved this beautiful gem of a hotel from the first time I went there for lunch several years ago. When my husband proposed I knew exactly where the wedding would be. The Stanwell House is perfect for a really relaxed wedding experience. The staff are proffesional but not stuffy and the planning was very personal. They decorate the conservatory for the ceromony and the rooms and garden are beautiful too. The food was outstanding. Everything was just perfect, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel for a relaxed wedding and reception.

      Just perfect
The venue was just what we were looking for: a hotel full of character we could book all our family and friends into and take over for a day and a night. The decor is fantastic, opulent and raffish, and the rooms beautifully varied and decorated (particularly the suites). Service is brilliant, Annabel the event organiser sees to every detail and the catering staff led by Phillipe do a superb job. Which brings me to the food; just fabulous. We had wondered if the very high standards they managed when we were looking for a venue, and for the tasting, could be kept up when dishing up 70 covers but needn't have worried. One of our guests was a head chef and even he was bowled over! Everything worked spot-on for the perfect day. If you had to pick holes, you would say the parking (across the street in a public car park), the garden (it's nice but not that large if you have dreams of a summer garden party wedding) and the music restrictions (volume level restriction due to town centre location) might be issues for some, but these are all a function of it being in the town centre; the hotel do all they can to make everything else perfection Thoroughly recommended

A unique venue, full of character, colour, warmth and intimacy.
We chose Stanwell House Hotel because we didn’t want a ‘run of the mill’ wedding. We liked its slightly quirky and unique character, the friendly staff and the intimate atmosphere of relaxed informality. Importantly for us, Stanwell House only host one wedding per day, and as a small wedding – just 50 people, we didn’t want huge rooms we couldn’t fill. The other vital statistic was the restaurant’s excellent and well deserved reputation. We wanted a Wedding Breakfast our guests would remember - and they didn’t disappoint us. Stanwell House is full of colour. It’s a Regency period house with a glass roofed conservatory (where we married) decorated in vibrant yellow and green, with velvet cushions in reds and purples scattered on wicker furniture. The chairs and sofas are arranged to create a long aisle for you to walk up, which I loved. If you're marrying on a budget, there is so much colour and character you don't need to have lots of flowers to transform it into something special - it is special already. The floor has original flagstones, and the oak panelled dining room is intimate and classy. And for the wedding night, you’re offered a choice from 3 fabulous suites, which are included in the price. There are gardens at the rear of the patio providing an attractive backdrop for photographs and the perfect area for reception drinks. Finally, the staff were amazing. They were professional, efficient, helpful and unobtrusive. Working as a team, they take pride in making your day perfect and they made our planning easy and stress-free. The lack of hotel parking, and the Saturday market blocking access from the High Street, could be viewed as negatives, but it didn’t present us or our guests with any problems.

Brilliant & Atmospheric place to get hitched!
My husband Richard and I had our wedding here on 8th december - please see our wedding photos on www.naturalweddings.com click on albums and then on Louise and Richard 8th Dec 2001. Stanwell House is the perfect venue if you are looking for somewhere atmospheric and eclectic to host your wedding. The staff were friendly, the food was just superb and the day went without a hitch. We got married in December and made use of their lovely christmas decorations to add a bit of glitz to the decor and we hired a string quartet which was fab and really in keeping with the ambience at Stanwell. The only reason I have only given 4 stars for Location is because parking is a bit of a nightmare. Being in the high street the hotel doesnt have its own car park and while there are plenty of carparks about just be aware that if you get married on a Saturday it will be busy and may be difficult for your guests to park. Apart from that I give it 10 out of 10!!
