A unique venue, full of character, colour, warmth and intimacy.
We chose Stanwell House Hotel because we didn’t want a ‘run of the mill’ wedding. We liked its slightly quirky and unique character, the friendly staff and the intimate atmosphere of relaxed informality. Importantly for us, Stanwell House only host one wedding per day, and as a small wedding – just 50 people, we didn’t want huge rooms we couldn’t fill. The other vital statistic was the restaurant’s excellent and well deserved reputation. We wanted a Wedding Breakfast our guests would remember - and they didn’t disappoint us.
Stanwell House is full of colour. It’s a Regency period house with a glass roofed conservatory (where we married) decorated in vibrant yellow and green, with velvet cushions in reds and purples scattered on wicker furniture. The chairs and sofas are arranged to create a long aisle for you to walk up, which I loved. If you're marrying on a budget, there is so much colour and character you don't need to have lots of flowers to transform it into something special - it is special already. The floor has original flagstones, and the oak panelled dining room is intimate and classy. And for the wedding night, you’re offered a choice from 3 fabulous suites, which are included in the price. There are gardens at the rear of the patio providing an attractive backdrop for photographs and the perfect area for reception drinks.
Finally, the staff were amazing. They were professional, efficient, helpful and unobtrusive. Working as a team, they take pride in making your day perfect and they made our planning easy and stress-free.
The lack of hotel parking, and the Saturday market blocking access from the High Street, could be viewed as negatives, but it didn’t present us or our guests with any problems.
