      Personal and everything you need.
We had our wedding here in Sep 09 and the whole day was amazing ,the food the service ,the staff, the rooms ,we or none of our guests could fault it. Having the whole place to ourselves felt like we were in our own private little bubble and that was the main reason we choose Oakwood Hall. Could not reccomend it anymore. Amazing and thankyou for making our most special day in our lives the most memorable.

      Amazing Oakwood
We held our wedding and reception at Oakwood in March 2008, the service we recieved was fantastic. Philip our host was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The whole staff team were exceptional and the level of service delivered was above and beyond what we expected. i would not hesitate to recommend Oakwood Hall as a wedding venue.

      Would recommend without a doubt
It was actually my Sister who had her wedding reception at this venu, (I was helping with her plans). As soon as we saw the hotel we know it was the place come, it is in an easy to reach, yet sercluded, area. The staff were very friendly and organised and the whole place has and efficient yet relaxing atmosphere. The food we ate was very nice and there was pleanty to go around, we had a 3 course Wedding Breakfast and then later on a hot buffet whilst the disco was on. It felt like we had to Hotel to ourselves, there were a few other hotel guests staying but we never noticed them as there is was a seperate bar for us. There are also lots of nice places to take wedding photo's - in the gardens outside, inside the hotel and the front entrance has a nice archway. My Sister also enjoyed the room they were given and the breakfast that was provided in the morning. I highly recommed this venu, my review does not do it justice, it is definately worth a visit.

      excellent service and good atmosphere
We held both ceremony and reception here. Had approx 65 guests and this filled the place nicely without overcrowding. Excellent venue as they only do one wedding a day so it is just you and your guests -its totally your own special day with the people you love. Staff are wonderful - make you feel v special and take alot of care to stay in background. They are friendly and not at all bossy but at same time make sure everything runs like clockwork.Overall effect is that you feel like you are in your own private hideaway for the weekend esp if your guests all book rooms and stay there for breakfast the next day with you too! No bumping into strangers in the bar or another bride in the ladies!Lovely room for ceremony as it is gothic in style and the venue has lovely photo opportunities like a stained glass window on a fantastic staircase. The ceremony room has a lovely gothic arch and a raised area so you are visible to all your guests although you need to tell anyone reading for you that they need to speak out to the back since it affects the acoustics just a bit. Gardens are great for photos and guests can spill out onto lovely patio. Also good parking so noone has to park down the road and walk miles to get there. Bear in mind that if you hold ceremony there too they need to reset the room for reception dinner and then again for the party after so you are using the room more than once for different things. It didnt bother us since there are several rooms you move between so you don't see any' behind the scene activity and the atmosphere was so different at each stage of the day that it didn't feel like same place. Also advantage of not having to ship all your guests to different venues - this keeps cost down cos no need for transport and also you end up with more time to spend with your guests. Bar is nice and intimate but plenty of room and has open fire if you are going for a winter 'do'. Staff were helpful about decoration. For example; pointed out to us that less is more since the venue is ornate and victorian and it can look a bit naff if you go for the balloons etc and overdo the flowers. We kept it simple with white linen tablecloths and white rose centres with single candle- the whole effect was very atmospheric and elegant and also very cheap to do! Another tip is to have live music (string quartet) for the ceremony- again the venue is so elegant that it really creates the right mood. We used the hotels recommendation for florist (she's award winning) since she does their standard floral arrangements and therefore knows the venue well and creates something appropriate that blends v nicely. Also used the hotel's recommendation for DJ. He was very good. We gave him a list and he played what we wanted and also knew the staff and venue so could set up quickly. Food very good and served quickly and piping hot. You can have a formal sit down menu with alot of choice for guests or go for a buffet. We went for sit down menu and guests could choose starters and desserts from a selection which went down well. Also very good with kids servings. Excellent venue if you have guests with children since they can book a room and share babysitting and also easier for them to enjoy thenmselves without having to leave to get kids in bed etc. I really would recommend this as a wonderful place to get married in or to hold your reception. The staff are really professional and very experienced and we felt in really good hands. A final tip is to listen to their advice on things as they really do know what they are talking about!
