Lord Leycester Hospital

A splendid group of half-timbered historic buildings which, despite the name, was never a medical establishment and is, today, a retirement home for old warriors (retired ex-Servicemen and their wives). The site is dominated by the ancient Chantry Chapel of St James, built over the West Gate into Warwick in 1126, restored by Thomas Beauchamp, 12th Earl of Warwick, in the latter half of the 14th Century. and given to the United Guilds of Warwick.. The Guilds built a charming Guildhall and magnificent Great Hall, both of which are registered for civil ceremonies.

Beautiful venue any time of year
We decided to get married 6 weeks after I proposed! The Lord Leycester Hospital made this easy with it's lack of fuss and it's 'can do' attitude to everything we wanted. The Master is a reassuring and calming man, who made sure there were no panics, either in the preparation or on the day itself. Even though we were married in late December and the building is about 5oo years old, it was warm and had a very 'special' feel to it. The Lord Leycester Hospital is a beautiful place, full of history and we feel privileged to have been married there.

      absolutely brilliant!
A very personal venue, non of the corporate atmosphere of the modern hotel,we were made to feel special,we were not in a batch like we might be in a hotel venue, the Master took charge at several times to make our day specially importantas he said and arranged the timngs of table settings and even parking our cars ,which he need not have done, but did to help us out.We have had two weddings there ,each one unforgettable, the ambiance of the venue,Warwick town and the gloriouse weather in each case.We have been privalaged to have been looked after so well.

      A beautiful and friendly venue.
We were married in Warwick and had our reception at the Lord Leycester Hospital in August 2007. We had a drinks reception in the courtyard and a sit down meal for 80 in the hall. The contact that we had with the Lord Leycester was excellent - friendly and helpful - right from the start and all the way through until the end of the wedding day. We had an absolutely wonderful day and our guests were blown away by the venue.

Beautiful and unique setting, great service
This is the perfect venue for your wedding reception. It is unusual and beautiful and your guests will certainly be wowed by it! They do have a civil licence for ceremonies too but I just had my reception there so can't comment on that service. The organisation was as stress free as it can be and the staff are extremely helpful and genuinely interested and caring about your day. Great personal service, you don't feel like you are one of a massive conveyer belt of weddings. I would reccomend this venue to everyone. My day was amazing and well run - you do have to book your own caterers etc but this can work out to be better value for money and the venue can reccomend local suppliers who have worked there before. Overall fantastic experience.

The venue excelled all of our expectations
When we first went to the Lord Leycester we fell in love with the beauty and character of the building. As a venue for a wedding we could not have asked for a more perfect setting and the cherry on the cake came from the brothers who added a charm and class not offered anywhere else. This venue made our wedding the intimate stunning day that it became and we thank everyone there for this. We were married in the Guild Hall which provided so much that we didn't need to add much decoration. This was followed by drinks in the court yard which made for some beautiful photographs we also used the garden which was amazingOur wedding breakfast was held in the Great Hall which was perfect and went on into the night with the disco lights dancing off the beautifull beamed ceiling. All through our wedding from the moment we booked to the end of the evening we knew we could not have found a better venue for the happiest day of our lives so far....

Fabulous, beautiful venue and excellent service from all the Lord Leycester
We found the Lord Leycester to be an excellent venue that fulfilled all our needs for our special day. The Master was very accommodating, the recommended caterers were fabulous and the vintners were amazing value. Would highly recommend this historic venue to anyone as it provides great value coupled with a perfect, photogenic backdrop.

The perfect venue for our wedding.
We loved the uniqueness of the building, which perfectly suited our number of guests. many of our guests commented on what a good choice the venue was, and many were surprised that it was possible to get married in such a special and historic building. The staff were all extremely helpful, and we feel very lucky to have found the Hospital for our wedding.

      Amazing venue
We had a wonderful day in a beautiful setting that was everything we could have wished for. The Lord Leycester was very helpful and accessible throughout the planning process. Our only reservation was that on the day there wasn't really anyone around to tell us where we could go for photographs etc. This was a bit confusing!
