Horsted Place Hotel

Horsted Place, a magnificent Victorian listed building set in extensive landscaped gardens, provides the perfect backdrop for wedding celebrations at any time of year. Impressive but welcoming, this lovely country house now offers three choices of setting. The warm intimate Library seats up to 50 guests and is ideal for a couple perhaps wishing to exchange their vows in the presence of close family and friends. For a larger gathering, the elegant Terrace Room with its French doors on to the garden can accommodate up to 100. This room is flooded by afternoon sunlight, but also looks stunning lit by candles for a winter wedding. Horsted Place is one of the few venues in Sussex licensed for an outdoor ceremony. The Victorian style summerhouse on the sheltered croquet lawn sets the scene for a less formal but nonetheless memorable occasion. (Should the weather be inclement, the Terrace Room or Library would be available.) It is also possible to take exclusive use of house, when Horsted Place and its staff are at the complete disposal of the bridal party and their guests. Music and dancing into the evening are only possible if exclusive use is taken. We do not offer standard packages and we never book more than one wedding for the same date. Summary information

Until twenty years ago Horsted Place was a private Country House. It is a Grade 2 listed building, with original period features and an unaltered exterior. The extensive landscaped gardens provide beautiful and varied backdrops for wedding photographs at any time of year. With twenty double bedrooms and suites individually named and decorated in traditional English country house style, the emphasis throughout is on comfort. The cuisine uses the finest seasonal and local produce whenever possible, expertly cooked and served with style. Vases of fresh flowers scent the public rooms and, at Christmas time, while log fires and heavy curtains keep out the dark winter chill, real trees, holly, ivy and candles create perhaps the most romantic atmosphere of all. Guests may enjoy preferential green fees at the adjacent East Sussex National Golf Club, and complimentary use of the fully equipped gym and indoor swimming pool.

      Absolutely thrilled with the success

      Everyone was so helpful and the whole day ran like clockwork. The food was superb, the service was understated yet wonderfully efficient and all the rooms looked lovely. Overall it is a great venue for a wedding.

      the wedding breakfast was superb
      We stayed with you last weekend for the wedding of Mike and Michele and wanted to say how lovely the whole event was. The venue is just perfect and very welcoming and the staff were so helpful. Our food on Friday night and the actual wedding breakfast was superb, not an easy task when dealing with a high volume of guests all being fed at the same time!

      It was a wonderful day, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and complimented the venue, food and service. All your wonderful help and very sound advice in the 10 months leading up to the wedding was invaluable to creating our perfect day. We definitely made the right decision to marry at Horsted and had you not convinced us to come and look around after my initial concerns over the cost, we would have missed out on something very special indeed. As promised, the venue offered superior value in every way. We had such a fabulous day and enjoyed every minute.

      A memorable success
      These days "complaints" seem to be made more readily than "thanks" - we would like to redress that. The day as a whole was a memorable success, everything went so well it was without a blemish. A major factor in making it so was the exemplary efforts of the staff at Horsted Place. The food was of outstanding quality from canapes to the wedding breakfast to the evening buffet. The service could not be faulted for efficiency or for the courteous and charming way duties were carried out.

      The staff worked extremely hard - always courteous, smiling, near at hand yet keeping in the background, catering for all our guests' needs without fuss and professional at al times. The hotel layout worked like a dream and the Terrace Room being transformed from a formal room to a party room was magical.
