Dated and in need of an update

As a wedding guest at Gosfield Hall I would like to share my experience of the venue.
My first impression was of an impressive wedding venue in high demand, however on closer inspection I found the rooms a little dated and the paint work a little chipped.
Due the high demand of this venue I also found that the wedding party were ushered in and out of the venue the next morning, rather like on a wedding conveyer belt, which personally I found very unromantic.
On a final note, I was served a drink in a mouldy glass, not what you would expect when paying so much for a venue. The bar man apologised sincerely after I noticed the hairy mould floating in my drink, but it made me wonder...
Beautiful setting, beautiful rooms and venue but when you're spending that kind of money on your wedding I'd expect the little things to be up to scratch to.
A little disappointed as a guest.
Hi Maggie, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Gosfield Hall. We do take all feedback extremely seriously as this is the only way to move forward and constantly improve the services that we offer. As you can imagine, with the size and age of Gosfield Hall it is a constantly ongoing schedule of maintenance works. So far this year the large main entrance hall (Grand Salon) has been completely redecorated along with a number of guest bedrooms. Additional overnight accommodation has been created including a self contained cottage on site for the Bride and Bridesmaids the night before the wedding. As you can see there is constant investment in the building and I am sorry that you were not able to see this during your visit. Guests are served breakfast the following morning in the Ballroom between 9am and 9.30am, asked to check out of accommodation at 10am and then not asked to be off site until 11am. The following days wedding party do not arrive on site until Midday so we can ensure that there is never a crossover and the venue feels as though it is home to the couple until the second they depart. My husband and I married at Gosfield Hall on 1/11/13. The venue is beautiful but unfortunately we had a number of issues. After nearly two years I am finally writing this review because I don't want other brides to feel the way I feel when I look back at my wedding day... sad and disappointed. We were informed on 16 September that our front of house manager had been 'let go' and that someone else would take over which meant I felt that I had to repeat everything I had requested just in case something had been missed in the paperwork. On the day there were two issues which I know are going to horrify all brides to be. Firstly, the resident DJ played the wrong first dance song. It was so embarrassing and not something you would expect from such a reputable wedding venue. I had confirmed our song with both our new front of house manager and the DJ. Secondly, there was a power cut in the evening which meant we and our guests were in absolute darkness for about ten minutes. Again, this was very embarrassing. I received no communication from Gosfield Hall post wedding until I sent my feedback form in expressing my concerns a couple of months later. I finally then received an apology which as you can imagine in the circumstances meant very little. A wedding at Gosfield Hall is very expensive and such huge issues should not happen.
Hi Rae, the team at Gosfield Hall are absolutely devastated to hear that you have such awful memories of your special day. We always strive to ensure that your day with us is perfect in every way and have processes in place to make sure that every detail is covered. We have a very experienced and a very organised team of Front of House Managers, one of whom will meet with you before your wedding to put together a running order for your day and she will go through every detail thoroughly. She is on hand on the day, from start to finish and will do everything she can to ensure that you can make the most of your special day. It was very unfortunate that your initial contact opted to leave the company and we did replace her very quickly with our most experienced replacement.
With respect to the issue with our DJ, It is company policy that our in-house DJ will contact each bride and groom before their wedding day and couples are invited to provide a play list if they wish or to give an indication of preferred genres and for specific tracks if required. The DJ will also check and double check that he has the correct song for each couples first dance, as we realise how important this is. The Front of House Manager will also double check that you have been contacted and that the DJ has everything he needs. As a result of some of these policies not being adhered too on your wedding day, disciplinary action was launched against the DJ in question and they no longer work for the company, so please rest assured that we took your complaint very seriously. We send every couple a feedback form after their wedding and encourage their comments, which we take very seriously and act on them accordingly. The couples are contacted following this feedback by our Venue Manager. As you know, this is the process that occurred after your wedding and action was immediately taken.
If circumstances beyond our control result in a loss of power during your wedding, we have generators that can be switched on to ensure that your day can continue without further disruption. As with every building, the switch is not immediate but please be assured it is quicker than the 10 minute window indicated in your review.
Please be reassured that your comments were taken very seriously indeed and resulted in changes which will ensure that this does not happen again.

We had our wedding here on 9th May 2014, and it was perfect!
The venue and staff are exceptional, faultless and so friendly, helpful and attentive. There are not enough words of praise!
We had Catherine as our front of house. From the beginning she was polite, friendly and profession, her manner gave us confidence in her straight away and she didn't disappoint. She was efficient in all communications and dealt with everything that was required on the day. She was always there but never intrusive.
The bar and waiting staff were also really friendly and efficient, we really wanted for nothing. They treated everyone so well, we felt like royalty.
The food at Gosfield is exceptional. My hubby and I love food, and it was really important to us, Gosfield didn't disappoint. Go on the perfectly planned evening, you have to pay but it is worth it. The service was also first class, everyone was served quickly and efficiently, no table was left waiting for anything. The evening buffet was also fantastic. There was more than something for everyone and it was out for ages, and so much of it.
We stayed over, which really did make it feel like our home. The breakfast was just as good, full cooked buffet, including poached eggs, which were perfect (as well as the usual cereal and continental bits).
Our day really was amazingly perfect, and most of it was without a doubt due to the staff and venue - Gosfield. Gosfield really are an amazing venue, but they are so much more than that. I could writes I much but not enough space!
If you want WOW, and fabulous food, venue with beyond exceptional service the you must book Gosfield.
It is worth every penny we paid!

We had the most amazing day at Gosfield. The place is stunning and they were incredible on the day... very slick indeed. The food was great and the atmosphere & ambiance of the house were perfect. One small word of warning would be about the resident DJ, it would be much better if Gosfield allowed you to hire your own but as that is not the case make sure you give him a very specific play list as otherwise it's just mainstream & classic 'wedding tunes'(unless of course that's what you like!)all night. We had a band and i'm really relieved we did :-) Other than that, it's a fabulous wedding venue.

We fell in love with the house and its beautiful, light, ornate rooms but there is much more to Gosfield as a venue. The support and attention to detail given to us by our planner, Karen, was second to none and would please even the most obsessive bridezilla! Most of all, however, the day flowed effortlessly and we really felt special even though Gosfield do weddings almost every day. All of the suppliers were instructed where to go by staff so we could enjoy the preparations with our loved ones. We were greeted after our ceremony with cocktails and canapés and invited upstairs into a stunning ballroom filled with flowers just as we wanted. The food was absolutely amazing including the evening fish and chips which fuelled a night of dancing. We had rain on our August wedding day but I can honestly say I did not even notice because I was in the most beautiful wedding venue in the world having the day of my dreams!

When you dream of getting married, you have a picture perfect vision of how the special day will be, but rarely in reality does it ever match up. However, I believe my day at Gosfield Halls was even more perfect then anything I could have ever imagined and I thank the wonderful, exceptionally professional staff.
I had the most perfect wedding that a bride could possibly ever have and will treasure the memories so fondly which are all thanks to Gosfield Hall offering such an amazing venue and for employing outstanding staff.

The staff, waiting service, food, and the ambience of the venue, was all we could have wished for. The sun even shone down on us all. My best part of the day, were the speeches, with not a 'dry eye in the house'. Also with 6 daughters (one down, 5 to go!) Im sure Gosfield will be our future venue for their weddings, if they will have us.

Katherine and I both fell in love with Gosfield Hall when we went to a Wedding Fayre. At the time we had been to see quite a lot of venues, although many were very nice we just had the feeling that Gosfield Hall was the perfect venue for us. We were not to be disappointed!!
Weddings can be stressful but we cannot speak highly enough of our Front of House Manager who was very friendly and and was always available to discuss our ongoing wedding arrangements. All of our guests have mentioned how all of the team were extremely efficient and unobtrusive on the day of our wedding.
The canapés were enjoyed by everyone in the lovely grounds. Fortunately we had amazing weather but one of the main reasons for choosing Gosfield Hall was that even if the weather was wet and windy and you couldn’t go outside, the mansion is simply stunning – you only wish that you could return on your 1 year anniversary.
Our only difficulty was choosing whether to get married in the Queen Charlotte's Oak panelled gallery with a 120 ft long aisle or the Grand Salon. Both are beautiful rooms and although we decided for the long room either would have been perfect.
The Wedding Breakfast was delicious and we particularly loved the Goat’s Cheese starter; the website though doesn’t really do justice to the Ballroom. It is simply stunning and really must be seen to be believed.
All of our close family and friends were able to stay the evening. All of the bedrooms were are amazing – particularly the Bridal, King and Queen Suite’s. We have some beautiful photos and really had the perfect day. And wouldn’t hesitate to recommending Gosfield Hall to anyone in search of a beautiful wedding venue.

Our day could not have been more perfect and was everything we could have dreamed of and more.
The staff worked so hard on the day and I felt like a princess whilst my guests were treated like royalty by the staff who were so courteous and polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Every second of the day ran like clockwork and my face ached by the end of the day as I have never smiled so much in my life!
The catering was superb, their team of chefs are amazing and all my guests are still talking about how sumptuous and plentiful the food was. It was great to have all our dietary/food allergy requirements catered for so expertly.
We are so glad we chose Gosfield Hall. Both ourselves and our guests have come to the conclusion that it was the best wedding we have ever been to. One guest even asked me if we would be offended if they used the venue themselves when they tie the knot, which of course we would not as it would be lovely to return and re-live all the happy memories and laughter of our own special day.
Gosfield Hall is a truly stunning venue and the website photos really do not do it justice. A superb venue with a fabulous team of staff who catered to our every wish and desire!
It was absolutely perfect, the happiest day of our lives, made possible by all the staff at Gosfield Hall.

It was absolutely amazing and this was mainly down to your team at Gosfield Hall. All of our guests complimented our choice of venue. The food and the surroundings were excellent.
