Ettington Park

Ettington Park has a long history of weddings many of which are recorded in the main dining room where the Shirley coat of arms is flanked by those of the 67 families that their heirs married into. Although the Norman church can be used for blessings, weddings are normally carried out in the elegant surroundings of the house itself where many of the rooms, including the splendid Library, are licensed for civil ceremonies. For the reception or party after the wedding you can also choose from a variety of superb rooms. They range from The Chapel where up to 14 people can sit down for an intimate private dinner, to the magnificent Long Gallery where 96 guests can enjoy a sumptuous candle-lit banquet or a party with live music and dancing. The lawns are ideal for setting up marquees. And like many guests you could take over the entire hotel for your own exclusive use. Whatever you decide, we offer a stunning backdrop against which to capture beautiful memories of a very special day.

      Absolutely fantastic!
We had an absolutely wonderful wedding day at Ettington Park last weekend, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Every member of staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the food was marvellous and it's just a fantastic venue full stop. Like one of the other reviewers, I also recommend the fantastic Rachel at Wellesbourne Florists: wonderful.

      The Most Amazing Day Ever!
I really don't think I can put into words how amazing Ettington Park is, but I'll try! When we arrived to look around before booking we were met by Clive, so so friendly & so informative. The whole atmosphere felt warm & welcoming so we booked on an Exclusive Use basis. In the run up we dealt with Emma who had a positive answer to every request, even pancakes as our evening snack! Then we met Jamie, he was amazing both in the run up & on the day. We felt like we'd known everyone at the hotel for years & everytime we visited it felt like we were meant to be there. The day went without 1 single hitch. Every single guest commented on the venue but more importantly on the people at the venue, especially Jamie. I had particular views on how everything was to look & we didn't have to ask for anything to be changed at all. When I walked into the Long Gallery for our ceromony it was with so much emotion as again the room looked divine, exactly as we'd planned only better in real life. Jamie kept everything under quiet control, he was always there & looked so calm & in control that at no point in the day did we have to worry about anything! The food was fantastic. I have to say that the way it was served to everyone on a table at once was incredible. Every meal that was different vegetarian, child etc was served correctly without anyone having to ask for the alternative, again something a vegetarian in our party commented on, it was the 1st time ever that she didn't have to say she was vegetarian! We used all the public rooms throughout the Friday & Saturday, even having the speeches stood by the fire in the South Room rather than sat at our tables where we had eaten. Again this was an unusual request but Jamie & Emma were happy to oblige. Our photographer was made to feel welcome & again our idea to do Portrait Photos of our guests as Wedding Favours was accommodated by the hotel with no fuss whatsoever. The service was superb from every single member of the team and no request was too much, even a milkshake for my pregnant sister at 11 at night! I always remember a quote from Jamie Yes is the answer, now what's the question! Nothing was too much.We will never forget our amazing wedding day & Ettington Park will always be the most special place in our hearts. The most sincere thanks to all especially Jamie and Emma from Kevin & myself. See you on March 9th 2008 for our anniversary!

      Our compliments!
The day itself was fantastic. I will put some more specific points down below, but just want to say thanks for everything. Matt made the comment, that even if we had had another 50,000 pounds to spend on the wedding, we would have still probably been hard pressed to find a better venue!! Positives - the venue - absolutley stunning especially with the christmas decorations around loved the decorations in the lobby and up the stairs. The blessing - we had no trouble at all fitting in all 57 day guests in the chapel and we felt it really added some magic to the day. I think up to 80-90 guests could easily fit in there for a blessing if standing space was used. The Flowers - we were worried about these because they were a week old due to delivery time at Christmas but they were phenomenal - worth every penny. We would always recommend Wellesbourne Florist if anyone asked. Rachel was fantastic! We got the contact information for her from the wedding co-ordinators, so thanks for the recommendation. The rooms - every single person who stayed over commented on the fantastic quality of the rooms and how clean they were. Mat and I stayed in the Stour room and only wished we could have stayed longer! The rooms provided for the bride and groom to get ready in were also great - Thanks for arranging that for us. The porter sorry - can't remember his name - it was the guy with Tourettes syndrome. Again, everyone commented on how cheerful, nice and helpful he was. He was excellent - he was present at our wedding, and then was at work at 7am the following morning when we checked out as well - and was still cheerful that early in the morning!! The food - oh my god - it was gorgeous!! When we were at our tasting, they did warn us that the chefs would try and get as close as possible to the quality of the food at the tasting, but that when catering for large amounts of people, it may be of slightly less quality. That was not the case with us at all! On the night, I did not see one plate with food left! The beef was melt in the mouth, and the portions were also excellent. Please pass our compliments onto the chef!! Last but not least! I phoned up quite a few times with all kinds of wierd and wonderful questions, and you always had the answers ready and waiting for me perhaps you should put together a frequently asked questions fact sheet!! I just wish we had been dealing with you from the start! As you can see, the pluses far outweigh the negatives - perhaps just a couple of tweaks are required. As I said before, it was a fantastic day, and thanks again for everyone at Ettington Park who had a hand in it. I could go on about more positives, these are just the main ones from the top of my head but I've already written an essay! Thanks again, Laurie and Matt Brown

Father of the Bride comments sent to GM- Mike Rothwell
As the father of the bride, I felt compelled to write to you to thank you and your staff for making our wedding arrangements on Sunday 9th December go so well. It was a wonderful day in a fabulous location and the efforts of everyone at Ettington Park helped to make it a day to remember. I have to mention that we had a small blip in our initial dealings with Simon Dearden on the Saturday, but to his credit he promptly came back to us in order to put things right. We were demanding and he dealt with us admirably. My thanks in particular go to him for bringing it all together and making it happen so brilliantly on the day. We were all very comfortable and confident that he had everything under control. I have to say that I have rarely seen anyone work so hard. Not only did he manage the day so effectively, he also ‘rolled up his sleeves’ to vacuum, to move tables and goodness knows what else that I didn’t see him do behind the scenes. He worked tirelessly to make it all happen and ensure that we had a superb day, he is an asset to your organisation! Kind regards Paul Hewer

James and I would like to express our thanks for all you did to help make Saturday such an amazing day. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, as did all our guests, and they each commented on how organised and slick the staff were. Without your hard work and patience, we know it would not have been such a wonderful and memorable day. We hope to see you again, perhaps for our anniversary! Thank you again, Mr and Mrs James Greygoose
