East Mersea Hall

Imagine an island off the coast of England accessible by water, air or the ancient Roman causeway known as the 'Strood' - and all within one an a half hours of London!

East Mersea Hall is located on this idyllic island and is a stunning Elizabethan family manor house where an abundance of history combines with relaxed and friendly values to provide the wedding and celebration venue with a difference.

The Hall is fully licensed for all types of Civil Ceremonies and blessings with the choice of either The Old Dining Room or The Terrace Room, and a very unique feature is the close proximity of The Church of St. Edmund which is accessed via private pathways from the house.

In the summer months the wedding reception can take place in the glass fronted Pavilion overlooking the lake which was once a medieval moat.  For a winter reception The Terrace Room is transformed and the ambience and warmth of the room combined with the crackling of logs burning on the grand open fireplace creates a truly magical atmosphere.

Whatever the weather the photographic opportunities are abundant - it could be the gardens with the stunning backdrop of the lake, the woodland with the secret pathways or even within the Hall itself with the open fireplaces.

Sarah and David have great pleasure in welcoming you and your guests into their home and they strive to make your day truly memorable.

Summary information

East Mersea Hall is a unique fully licensed venue which is highly suitable for Civil Ceremonies or receptions following a Church wedding. The 'Terrace' Room and the 'Dining Room' are both licensed for Civil Ceremonies and are also available for receptions. The glass fronted Pavilion takes in the breathtaking splendour of the lake which brings the outdoors indoors to you and your guests. The seating allows for 120 for a wedding breakfast and up to 150 for a buffet. We are able to recommend caterers depending upon your requirements. The car park is situated down Church Lane and a bridge crossing the old moat provides access into the grounds of the venue. There is parking available at the house for disabled or elderly guests. The 'Terrace Room' for Civil Ceremonies will be available 12 months of the year, and also for small intimate receptions. The 'Pavilion' will be available from 15th April until 15th October.

      Simply Amazing
Our wedding day was fantastic. East Mersea Hall really is outstanding, from all the staff to the amazing venue. Sarah and David really made us feel special. We can not thank them enough for our perfect day.

      My Perfect Day
As soon as i saw East Mersea Hall i knew i was going to get married there - no-where else matched the beauty and calmness of the gardens and no-one else matched the way that Sarah & David made us feel. They made us feel so special and nothing was too much trouble or effort for them. They really bend over backwards for you and do it all with a smile on their face! All of our guests commented on the venue, the photogrpaher got some amazing photos and we were the happiest couple ever. It was our perfect day & Sarah & David and their team certainly had a massive helping hand in that!

      An excellent wedding venue
Our son was married at East Mersea Hall last week, and the whole day was just wonderful! The location is beautiful, but just as important is the way that Sarah and her team unobtrusively yet very efficiently work in the background to make the whole day go so smoothly. We can't imagine a better wedding day!

      Outstanding! A perfect day.
The venue is simply specular. Sarah works hard to provide a high level of service which makes you feel unique- this is no conveyor belt wedding venue, nothing is too much trouble. Our day was even better than we had hoped. Thanks again to Sarah, David and their excellent staff for making our day so special.

      perfect
I held my renewel of vows at East Mersea Hall yesterday, our day was beyond perfect. The team, were so friendly, so professional and made everything look effortless. The location is beautiful, the house is the perfect setting for the intimate ceremony we wanted and the grounds are like something out of a fairytale, truly romantic. I would recommend to anyone to have their wedding here, Sarah was just brilliantly unflappable, even with a last minute change to seating plans, and a screaming toddler who wont sit down for the wedding breakfast. The thing that has made such a lasting impression is the effort that all the staff went to to make our day wonderful, we received such a lovely personal service i''m just completely blown away. It really was just the most perfect day, in the perfect place.
