Situated on the banks of the River Wear, The Royal County is steeped in rich history and charm. Perhaps the most striking feature is the historic black oak staircase providing the ideal backdrop for your wedding album. We can accommodate up to 120 daytime guests and up to 150 at night. The hotel also holds a marriage license enabling a civil ceremony to take place for up to 70 guests. We can also cater for the most intimate of occasions, fully dependent on your specific requirements. Our vast experience in weddings means that we pride ourselves on the highly individual and personal service that we offer. A great place to get MarriedThe Durham Marriott is a great place to get married coupling the history and heritage of the building and city with great support and fantastic service. We had a wonderful wedding and I would recommend both the staff and the venue to any bride looking for a magical day. I would also like to highlight the outstanding customer service we received from Dionne Connolly who worked closely with us to ensure that our wedding was a great success, from the food to the DJ. She met with our family and helped to ensure that they all felt part of our fantastic day. I couldn’t have asked for anymore from a wedding co-ordinator, she took all the pressure away from the bridal party and made sure that we enjoyed every minute, including the lead up.

Truely outsytanding serviceFrom the first contact to arrange the wedding day to the day its self the service recieved was first class.Tina covered all aspects of the preperations and planning. Simon and his team provided fantastic service from the moment we arrived at the Hotel.The food service during the breakfast was great. A big thanks to James the Master Chef for a fantastic meal.One aspect that stood out greatly during the day was that the staff were willing to assist were ever they could.
