For a wedding where impact and the “wow” factor are required, then Newcastle’s Discovery Museum should be the first choice.
This historic building dates back to 1899 and was once the headquarters of the former Co-Operative Wholesale Society for the northern region.
A museum for more than 30 years, it also doubles as an impressive venue for all occasions with the Great Hall dominating the upper level, complete with magnificent art deco lamps and steel beams.
The Hall can take up to 350 for a grand dinner, presentations or celebrations with a number of other options around the venue for smaller events. Alternatively, the whole museum may be hired for larger numbers.
For a drinks reception or pre-dinner gathering, couples can also use the impressive entrance which is home to Turbinia, the first ship to be powered by a steam turbine.
