Augill Castle has a long tradition of memorable hospitality. During its 160 years the castle has retained much of its atmosphere. It is a place where the background is of creaking floorboards, ticking clocks and distant laughter. Today Simon & Wendy Bennett run the castle in a modern, informal style. Hire the Castle for exclusive use and it will be yours for the duration of your wedding stay. Big enough to feel grand, small enough to remain intimate and relaxed, Augill lends itself to small, bespoke wedding celebrations where the service is discreet but polished and everything is done with a minimum of fuss allowing you to fully enjoy the most important day of your life with the most important people in your life without any interruptions. With ten years of experience of weddings at the castle Simon & Wendy are able to advise on what works and what might not and share their personal knowledge of suppliers of everything from cakes to horse drawn carriages to flowers. Food at the castle is sourced from a wealth of local suppliers, often organic, always top quality and following the seasons. Working in partnership with a local vintner they can help you match the menu that they will help you to create to an equally exciting range of wines.

Summary information

Augill is licensed to hold civil marriages. The castle can host wedding celebrations for up to 60, formal receptions for up to 46 From Easter 2010 the castle will have fourteen bedrooms and suites, three of which are ground floor. All rooms have a very distinct character. Superbly finished with big antique beds and soft sofas, guests can expect to find such unusual additions to their rooms as an old gramophone, a piano or even an Indonesian blow pipe. As with all good country houses, the table is at the heart of the castle. Weddings for up to forty-six can dine banquet style along two eighteen foot oak tables and smaller groups eat together around one huge dining table. More informal finger and fork buffets can be laid on for up to sixty allowing you and your guests to mingle as you eat and drink. There is no formula, no set packages. Each wedding at Augill is as unique as the setting itself. You choose when to get married, what to eat, how it is served.

      We couldn''t have asked for more
      After our wedding, both fathers-in-law and several other guests of all ages independently came to us and said it had been the best wedding they''d ever been to. It wasn’t all us and our brilliant planning! Augill Castle is a home, and it felt like one. The 15 children in our party had the time of their lives. The photographer was in raptures at the beautiful interiors and backgrounds to his pictures. There were characterful little nooks and crannies for the healthy sub-parties any wedding should have. Wendy and Simon were perfect hosts, calm, friendly, unobtrusive, and exceptionally helpful to us when choosing local musicians and making arrangements. They took decisions off our hands when we were losing the plot and when we still had the plot, but fancied a rest! The feeling that there are competent, enthusiastic professionals behind you that you can trust was the best present we gave ourselves while planning our own wedding. It’s a year on, and we still think we had the most perfect day we could have wished for. Thankyou Wendy and Simon. I would have no hesitation in recommending Augill Castle as a wedding venue. This was the best wedding we’ve ever been to as well!

      Out of this world
      Thank you to everyone at Augill for the perfect wedding weekend. The castle is truly a special place and the staff just see to everything. The rooms are beautiful, the setting is gorgeous and the food is out of this world. Wendy & Simon took all the hassle out of planning the wedding so when we arrived for the actual weekend we were''nt nervous at all because we knew everything was organised. We will remember Augill always.

      Perfect
      The venue alone is worth it but what really made our wedding special was the attention to detail of both the owners, who were on hand all weekend, and their staff. They all so obviously enjoy what they do. So many of our guests have said it was the best wedding they''d ever been to.

      A dream come true
      We have been asked to send in a review of our wedding which I am more than glad to do. It was a fairytale come true. The castle, the setting, the people, the food, everything was more than perfect. We married there six months ago and have not stopped talking about it and neither have our family and friends. We''re all looking for an excuse to go back for another party.

      The best wedding ever
      The place is an absolute fairytale. The hosts miss nothing and the food is superb. I can't fail anything.
