Speech

On behalf of my wife Helen and myself I would like to thank everyone for

Coming today. I know that some of you have travelled some distance to be

Here in order that you might share this really special day with us and

Both Helen and I are delighted to see you.

Unfortunately there are some people who cannot be with us today, Chris

My dad, who I'm sure would have been proud today and would have

enjoyed it immensely, my grandmother who is recovering from an

Operation and other members of both our families, our thoughts are with

them and we know that their thoughts are with us.

I would like to thank Helens dad Ray for his kind words, I am really

Proud to have become Helens husband and in the process become Ray and

Christine's son in law.

I would like to thank them for the kindness that they have shown me and

For welcoming me into their family as they have and being there for both

Helen and I and giving us all the help that they have done, especially Ray

As I don't think we would have such a nice house had it not been for all of

His efforts. By the way there are still a few jobs that we need doing!!

Seriously, Ray has done so much work on our house that I don't know

Where we would have been without him.

I would like to thank Ray and Christine for giving us their blessing and I

Personally hope that I can be everything you want from a son in law and

More.

Helen and I would also like to thank my mum, the second Mrs Oldham in

This room. There are now three of them here. I would like thank her and

my dad for everything that they have given me throughout my life and all

the Support you have given both Helen and myself. Helen was able to

meet my dad before he died and I know that he liked her and that he

would be happy for us today.

I hope you that you are proud and content as I'm sure my Dad is because

Helen and I are now married.

We would like to present to our Mothers a token of our appreciation

Thanks.

Right, now down to the nitty gritty, when I was preparing this speech I

Came across a few facts about the 8th September and also 1970 the year

In which both Helen and I were born.

As you may or may not know Helen and My birthdays are only 4 days

apart. We were born at opposite ends of Wales though!.

Any way in September 1970, IBM introduced the floppy computer disk for

Which I'm grateful as this speech was saved on one! Also on the 8th

September 1970 the 1000th edition of Coronation Street was shown.

Now Since I met Helen I have become a coronation street fan. So much so

that He other day both Helen and my mother were shocked to notice that

the Carpet in our lounge is exactly the same as the one in Vera and Jack

Duckworth's house!

All I can say is that I hope that we will be as happy as them after 30 odd

years of marriage, I Also Hope that is where the similarity ends so don't

start calling us Jack And Vera just yet!!

We would both also like to thank Peter Leonard for marrying us today and

For all the help and advice he has given us along the way, Also the people

of Colwinston for providing us with a beautiful brand new Church to get

married in, we are both very honoured to have had the first wedding in

the new church. We both hope that there will be many more weddings

there.

The one person in this room to which I owe the most thanks, is Helen, my

Wife, (I have learnt a new word today!), who looks absolutely stunning

Today as I'm sure you will all agree and Judging by the reactions of

everyone at the church today.

I was told by Helen's mother that she looked wonderful in her dress but

That still didn't prepare me enough for when I saw her walk down the

Aisle. I was overwhelmed to say the least, I still cant believe that such

A wonderful woman chose to marry me.

So to my wife, my bride, I am extremely lucky to be the one to marry you, I

Love you very much and I know that this is the start of many happy years

Together.

I would like to personally thank David, my brother for being my best man

today, thank you for all you help and support and making sure that I got

to the church on time and for looking after the rings I hope you are kind

to me In your speech.

Finally Helen and I would like to thank our bridesmaids, Georgie and

Debbie who both look stunning and truly beautiful today and have both

contributed so much to make our day even more memorable.

Helen and I would like to present to Georgie and Debbie a small gift as

They have ensured that our day has been perfect.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding. I would like to propose two
toasts .

To absent friends
To the bridesmaids.
