Speech by Neil Armstrong

Having surfed the net I would like to say your site was very easy to use and provided with me some great ideas for my speech which went down a storm.

Speech Type: Groom
Speech Creator: Neil Armstrong
Speech Date: Nov2004
Martin, thank you for your kind words and good wishes.

Can I start my speech by welcoming the guests. Today, we are surrounded by most of the friends and family that have been important to us during our lives. Some have travelled thousands of miles, just to be here today. It makes me the happiest man alive to be able to say ladies and gentlemen, friends and family, on behalf of my wife and I, welcome to our wedding and thank you sincerely for sharing this special day with us.

Before I start with my thank-you's, have you all seen the “fun cameras” on your tables?
Please feel free to take photo's throughout the day.

I was going to create a poem for today describing how I feel so everybody would know how truly happy I am but unfortunately I couldn't get Eleanor, scaffolding and extension to rhyme!

Actually I had a great speech prepared, but now that I am married my wife tells me what to say, so I'll have to give this speech instead.

2 THANK YOU BRIDE

One of the best things about being a man is that weddings seem to organise themselves – and more so for me, as I have been busy building the extension .

Clearly events like today's don't just happen. They take a considerable amount of hard work and organisation and it would seem an appropriate point for me to ask you all to join me in a toast to Eleanor whose constant hard work and organisational skills has made this the celebration that it is.

Eleanor, thank you for agreeing to marry me. I love you very much and look forward to the rest of our lives together. I feel very lucky. Eleanor is beautiful, smart, kind, caring, and I would go on except that I can't read her writing.

Ladies and gentlemen please be upstanding, I would like to propose a toast : To Eleanor

Of course I haven't just gained a wife today, but also a family. Thank you to all of them for making me feel so welcome. Most of all, thank you for bringing Eleanor up to be the woman that I have married.

3 THANK YOU BRIDES MUM

Margaret, from the bottom of our hearts Eleanor and I would like to thank you for helping finance this special day.

I am very proud to be your son-in-law, and I hope that I will live up to your expectations.
Having been engaged to Eleanor for over a year now, I think I am prepared well enough.
Most of all, thank you for giving me your blessing to marry your treasured daughter, Eleanor.

FLOWERS
In appreciation for your support especially over the past few days we would like to give you this gift.

THANK YOU GROOMS PARENTS

I would also like to thank my mum and dad for everything they have given me during my life, for they have always been there, and at times I have needed them.
Thank you for welcoming Eleanor into the family.

FLOWERS
In appreciation for your support we would like to give you this gift.

4 THANK YOU BRIDESMAIDS

Eleanor and I, would like to thank you all very much for your cards, kind thoughts, and wonderful presents. I would also like to say how overwhelmed, I am, by how beautiful Eleanor looks, in her wedding dress; and also how lovely the bridesmaids and flower girl look and what a fantastic job they have done.

Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding, I would like to propose a toast to the girls: To the girls.

THANK YOU BEST MAN AND USHERS
Craig, thank you for being the best man, organising the Stag Do and letting me borrow your clubbing gear. (Stag Do in Amsterdam dressed up)
And a big thanks to my other brothers Adam, Marc and my new brother Edward as well as the other Ushers Jim, Richard, and Jim.
Although none of them have any prior experience as bouncers, it's fairly self evident that they've done a terrific job at handling the paparazzi today and I for one, haven't seen even one Hello! Magazine photographer on the premises all day. Well done guys.

I should perhaps just mention at this point that Craig suffers from a rare medical condition which, makes him prone to embellishment. He often invents the most fanciful stories, which he sincerely believes to be true. I hope you bear this in mind when he stands up to speak in a few moments.

5 THANK YOU EXTENSION

Now back to the extension, Eleanor and I would sincerely like to thank all those involved in the extension from the planning stages, her birth, the nurturing of the early months and the pampering and TLC given to enable her to be part of our family. As with any new member of the family they can Knacker you out. Thanks especially to Jimmy fringe, Richard, Malcolm and Rob who have been involved in a big way. And whilst we are on the subject I would like to take this opportunity to remind everybody that you are all invited back to our house tomorrow to look at the extension err no I mean for a buffet and drinks which starts as soon as we get back.

Well I think that's enough from me
Ladies and gentlemen I give you my wife.
