As we celebrate 18 years of Hitched (yep, we pre-date Google, how about that?!) we’ve decided to pick out 18 of our favourite real weddings to inspire you as you plan your own big day. From the classically beautiful to the cool and quirky, you’re guaranteed to fall for these couples’ stories just as much as we did!

1. Claire and Paul 7th September 2013

Claire and Paul’s Portsmouth wedding was full of fun – we loved their quirky seaside theme, which included buckets of sweets, a sandcastle wedding cake and AMAZING yellow wedding shoes.

2. James and Juris 7th September 2013

Juris and James’s wedding was a seriously stylish affair at the Dorchester. The two grooms wore matching suits and enjoyed an elegant and intimate dinner with their wedding party. Their birdcage wedding cake is a particular highlight.

3. Ruth and Jaisal 5th April 2015

Jaisal and Ruth combined two cultures when they tied the knot. Their Hindu wedding celebration was a riot of red and gold, whilst the traditional evening celebration had a classic blue and brown colour scheme.

4. Kuksy and Tolu 31st October 2013

If you’ve always dreamed of a romantic beach wedding, you need to check out Kuksy and Tolu’s wedding story! They got married on the white sand beach in Naples, Florida, with 60 of their nearest and dearest in attendance.

5. Pascal and Adam 31st May 2013

This wedding is a retro-lover’s dream. It features pastel balloons, gorgeous bunting, a delectable cake table and Pascal and Adam’s wedding outfits are to die for! We love her pretty pink petticoat and amazing wedding shoes.

6. Sarah and Gaz 6th August 2011

Sarah and Gaz said their vows to each other at a super cool purple-themed wedding in the Welsh countryside. If your groom is a fan of making a fashion statement, you need to share Gaz’s cool groomswear style with him!

7. Jo and Phil 17th August 2014

As Jo and Phil met on a ship, they decided to theme their whole wedding around their meeting place! The ship-shape wedding cake is a particular highlight, but we’re also big fans of their nautical themed wedding stationery too.

8. Steven and Andy 15th October 2012

Andy and Steven tied the knot in Brighton and both looked amazing. Their guests enjoyed champagne, canapés and a harpist at their elegant wedding party, and we definitely experienced shoe love when eyeing up their footwear.

9. Josh and Lynsey 13th July 2013

A festival style wedding was the perfect fit for this super cool couple. Josh and Lynsey celebrated their marriage with a tipi wedding reception, a band and a DJ, and an amazing chocolate brownie wedding cake.

10. Kirsty and Stuart 5th April 2015

Stuart and Kirsty’s wedding at Down Hall perfectly combined glamorous style with lots of fun touches. We’re obsessed with all the elegant details and the amazing photography!

11. Erin and Oliver 5th September 2014

As Erin and Oliver met whilst studying for a degree in English Literature, they incorporated their love of books into their wedding. The bouquet was made from pages from a Harry Potter novel, and they had a make your own tea bar!

12. Reena and Jaspal 4th September 2011

Reena and Jaspal had three wedding ceremonies in one day! They had a Hindu ceremony, a Sikh one and a civil ceremony too – everything was planned to perfection so they could include both their cultures in their wedding celebrations.

13. Caroline and Daniel 25th May 2013

This real wedding has lots of quirky British touches, including a classic red double decker bus and table names inspired by the tube in London.

14. Vicky and Ben 6th April 2015

Vicky and Ben weren’t just celebrating a wedding when they got married – they were also celebrating Vicky beating cancer. And they did it in the most awesome way, with a grown up bouncy castle, face painters and more.

15. Rhoslyn and Scott 28th July 2013

Literature lovers will adore Scott and Rhoslyn’s wedding! The table centrepieces included stacks of books, and each table was named as a different chapter. Cute!

16. Alice and Rick 25th September 2014

Alice’s love for Superman saw her adopt a very unusual wedding theme! Her day was inspired by Superman, but in a low-key way to appease Rick. They had red, yellow and blue flowers and a comic book style wedding cake.

17. Sophie and Christopher 7th October 2014

If you quickly glance at Sophie and Christopher’s real wedding, you could be fooled into thinking it was a mid-summer’s day! But the couple married on a sunny October Saturday, and had a bumblebee theme, as that’s Sophie’s pet name for Christopher. Their day also included a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

18. Hannah and Michael 20th September 2014

Michael and Hannah were always going to have a seriously stylish day – he proposed to her at the Burj Al Arab, one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Their day was gorgeously rustic and had a beautiful berry colour scheme.
