Whether you want to tie the knot on a windswept beach, or on the pitch of your favourite footie club, think outside the box with these 10 fabulously unusual places to say 'I do'.

  • On the beach - Tunnels

A gorgeous and totally unique setting, nestled in the cliffs at Ilfracombe, this network of hand-carved tunnels leads to a sheltered beach. Couples can say their vows under a thatched gazebo, overlooking the sea, before enjoying more spectacular views from the function room, where a balcony, roof terrace and newly-designed garden create a beautiful day lasting long after sunset. Finish the day with fireworks, Chinese lanterns and a romantic stroll along the sand. Contact Tunnels for further information
  • Kick-off – Newcastle United

Not only the 'Toon Army' enjoys the prospect of a visit to St James' Park; Newcastle's iconic football ground boasts one of the North East's largest wedding venues with rooms that can cater for anything from intimate groups to an elaborate sit-down banquet for more than 1,000 guests. Couples can marry with a view of the hallowed turf, and a stadium tour can be incorporated for extra wedding 'wow factor'. Contact Newcastle United Football Club for further information
  • Going to the zoo - Whipsnade Zoo

Do you love the idea of saying ‘I do’ with an audience of animals? At Whipsnade, your ceremony and reception will be set in 600 beautiful acres of Bedfordshire parkland complete with breathtaking views of the Chiltern Hills. Best of all, staff can arrange for you and your guests to feed the animals before whisking you off on a vintage steam train for an expedition around the park. Contact Whipsnade Zoo for further information
  • A mansion for two - Pembroke Lodge

This stately Georgian Mansion, tucked away within the 2,500-acres of London’s Richmond Park, is one of the most popular wedding venues in the country. Little wonder; despite being just a short distance from the bustle of the Capital, this listed venue has a warm rural atmosphere created by the views (the venue is situated at the highest point in the park) and by the 650 deer who roam freely in amongst the trees. Contact Pembroke Lodge for further information
  • Making history - Hever Castle

Set in over 100-acres of glorious parkland and gardens, Hever Castle in Kent – which dates back to the 13th century - is an idyllic setting. The childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, it witnessed one of the most romantic royal courtships in British history. In the present day, couples can exchange vows in the Italian Garden under the beautiful arched columns of the Italian Loggia, overlooking a picturesque lake. Contact Hever Castle for further information
  • In the city – Tower Bridge

If you love iconic, theatrical landmarks, book Tower Bridge for your big day. Both the North Tower Lounge and the Bridge Master’s Dining Room offer intimate spaces for wedding ceremonies. Then move on to the Walkways, suspended 42 metres above the River Thames, where you’ll eat and toast your marriage with stunning views across London as an unforgettable backdrop. Contact Tower Bridge venue hire for further information
  • A beautiful barn – The Kingscote Barn

With its chic décor and gorgeous setting, The Kingscote Barn is at the top of many couples’ ‘wish-list’. Complete exclusivity means the Cotswold stone barn (in its own secluded valley) is all yours for the day, and its large, south-facing lawn and terrace enjoy sweeping, photo-friendly views of the valley. As an added bonus there is no corkage, so you can keep costs down by supplying your own alcohol. Contact The Kingscote Barn for further information
  • Relax in the spa - Rowhill Grange

To feel fresh and fantastic when you exchange vows, a trip to the spa is a must – so how about getting married there? The award-winning Utopia Spa at Rowhill Grange combines the latest treatments with the historic setting of an 18th century country house. Brides could try a Power Facial, Mini Massage and Rehydration, while the groom relaxes with the Go Guy – a Power Breakfast Mask to rejuvenate and soothe. Guests will love the indoor pool and heat treatment suite too. Contact Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa for further information
  • Down on the farm - Hop Farm

Oozing rural charm, this Kent-based farm is a gorgeous place to marry. Set amongst the world’s largest collection of Victorian oast houses (brick barns with soaring round towers) you can celebrate your wedding in an oak-beamed reception room, garden gazebo or permanent marquee. Each is flooded with light and beautified with traditional décor. Couples can even arrive at the ceremony on a traditional dray, drawn by magnificent shire horses. Contact Hop Farm for further information
  • Country living – Hall Garth

Set in 67-acres of private parkland, and with secret gardens and bridges over the river Skerne, 15th century Hall Garth Hotel offers a slice of the country with the service of a five star hotel. Originally part of the Bishop of Durham’s Estate, this grand hotel now offers 56 bedrooms and suites – so your entire party can celebrate and stay under one roof. This venue also specialises in outdoor ceremonies in the beautiful grounds. Contact Hall Garth Hotel and Country Club for further information
