If couples are planning a winter wedding then some advice on how to decorate their cake may be useful.
After enjoying roast turkey with all the trimmings on December 25th, many couples may look forward to a delicious slice of Christmas cake before they settle in front of the TV for an afternoon film.
It is easy to make this dessert look festive with some white icing and decorations and couples booking their wedding venues for a yuletide celebration may be keen to get into the festive spirit by decorating their wedding cake in a similar way.
This is not something that has to be tricky and there are plenty of easy ways to add a few Christmassy touches to a soft sponge or a rich fruit cake without going over the top and making it look tacky.
Writing for Associated Content, Stephanie Bell notes that it can be easy to incorporate winter wonderland decorations into a cake by sticking to an appropriate colour theme, such as white and blue, which can look "amazing".
To really capture the frosty feeling of the season without making guests feel too chilly, crystal snowflakes added to the side of the cake are an easy way to bring the outside in, she explains.
Similarly, cake toppers could be the perfect way for couples to individualise their dessert without going overboard on decorations, as they can be as simple or elaborate as they like. From angels to snowmen or a snow globe, Ms Bell says that there are many "different toppers that can add a winter sparkle".
"The possibilities are endless with the variance in topper themes and can be easy to coordinate with the overall theme and decor of your winter wedding," she continues.
The cake decorations could be matched to everything from the wedding flowers to the bridesmaids' dresses and for a festive feel, dark green or burgundy gowns could be complemented with "bells or fake pine cones", or a sprinkling of red or gold dusting.
Of course, there are many ways in which brides and grooms-to-be can personalise their winter wedding cakes and by making cute cupcakes instead of one large dessert they may be able to choose a selection of different Christmas details to adorn their sweet treats.
Savvy Scoop explains that these can be arranged into impressive cupcake towers and can exude "sophistication and elegance" when they stand proudly waiting to be enjoyed by friends and family after the main meal.
The news provider notes that these can often work out as less expensive than a traditional dessert, while many still have an extra top layer of cake so that the happy couple can continue with the tradition of cutting the treat together.
Weddings do not have to be held in the summer months and a festive ceremony can be just as magical and special as one that takes place on a sunny day. Although the weather may be a little colder, couples still have the perfect opportunity to go to town with their decorations and indulge in a wonderful white wedding cake.
