Once the veil is added it changes the whole look of your outfit. Try not to have pre-conceived ideas about the look you want and try on lots of different styles of dress and lengths of veil in different fabrics to find the one that best compliments you. By a process of elimination you will find your dream outfit. Don't have a heavily patterned veil with a very ornate dress as one will ‘fight' with the other. Wedding veils are usually made of either tulle, organza or chiffon and these can be made of polyester or silk. Polyester is less expensive than silk but once you try on a silk veil you will feel and notice the difference. Tulle is the sheerest fabric and won't obscure any detail on your gown whereas chiffon and organza are slightly opaque. Your guests should say ‘YOU look stunning', not your outfit looks stunning'. Don't have a veil that cuts across detail at the back of the dress. Let the veil finish below the decoration. If you are petite, don't have a veil that swamps you such as a high bouffant veil. It will only make you look smaller. Adding colour , eg. embroidery or other decoration, to your veil is a good way of linking in with your bridesmaids and/or bouquet. Remember the veil is part of the Bridal outfit, not something that is ‘plonked' on your head as an after thought. Take your veil with you when you have your hair trial and practice putting your veil on with what may be a new hair style for you. If your veil is a bit creased and you are nervous of pressing your veil, ask the store where you bought it if they will steam it a couple of days before the wedding. You can transport it home covered in a pillow case or duvet cover depending on its length. Don't wear something because you think you should, wear what YOU want. Don't forget you can have a veil made to measure just as you can a dress so you can have the exact length and decoration that YOU want.
You only wear a veil once so make the most of it and enjoy it !!
