It's set to be the wedding of the year! The wedding industry and most of the population waits with baited breath to see the type of wedding dress Pippa Middleton, sister to the Duchess of Cambridge, will wear down the aisle to marry her husband-to-be, James Matthews.

No one will forget that show-stopping white bridesmaid dress Pippa wore for the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William, and with her elegant, chic everyday style, we literally cannot wait to see the type of wedding gown she wears to tie the knot in.

According to US Weekly the couple are set to wed on the 20th May this year at the St Mark's Englefield in Berkshire. As the date nears, all we can think about here at Hitched HQ is: will the dress be sleek and feminine with perhaps a hint of delicate lace? Or, perhaps Pippa will surprise us all and opt for a traditional A-line beauty in a colour other than white or ivory? Who knows!

See what our four fabulous bridal designers predict for Pippa's big day gown below, and why they think she'll choose something potentially like it...

Stephanie Allin

"Pippa dresses very classically and I think this will reflect in her choice of bridal gown. She really suits the soft, demure look and wears chiffon very well. I imagine her in a lovely swishy, fluid and romantic dress similar to my Demi dress from the 2017 Belissimo Collection.

"The soft silk chiffon circular skirt falls beautifully and photographs very well which will be a crucial factor for Pippa when choosing her dress. I think she'll steer away from lace so her dress isn't too similar to her sister's but still opt for some sort of embellishment or detail similar to that on the bodice of the Demi dress. I predict Pippa will have long sleeves for at least the ceremony!"

"I believe Pippa will choose a gown that represents a modern femininity, but with accents of tradition. Whilst not a member of royalty, as the sister of the future Queen of England, tradition will dictate a conservative consideration.

"My vision for Pippa is an off-the-shoulder form-fitting gown with exquisite beaded details which mimic traditional lace design. A full detachable skirt train made of sheer layers for an opaque finish with pleat detail will allow the bride to achieve the balance between the modern and the traditional."

"Pippa is likely to want a designer wedding dress which takes a step away from the style worn by sister Kate for the royal wedding; she won’t want any comparisons to a similar style and as her wedding won’t have quite the same formal restrictions she is free to have a little more fun in her choice.

"Depending on the style of her venue she may wish to opt for a less formal wedding dress, maybe along the lines of a boho, romantic look. I should imagine that she'll be looking for luxurious silk fabrics, and floaty soft silk chiffon is very on trend right now along with lace being eternally popular. She may even want a combination of these. Otherwise full-length lace or silk tulle with lace features would work well for Pippa with the modern trend for relaxed boho flowers in a big bouquet.

"She has a great figure and may want a soft slinky style to show off her silhouette, or a low backed dress for maximum impact walking down the aisle. If she’s brave enough to take a departure from the traditional ivory we might expect to see her in either a subtle pearl silver or blush under lace. These are both incredibly popular right now and would suit her skin tone."

"As a style savvy London Bride I would dress Pippa Middleton in my Alice dress which is contemporary in design but timeless and classic in style.

"The figure hugging, empire line cut will elongate her silhouette and show off that positively exquisite derriere. The French levers lace jacket with scalloped edging and satin buttons adds that understated detailing favoured by modern but quintessentially British brides, as well as having the versatility of a two-piece. Pippa will no doubt look amazing in a number of styles so I cant wait to see what she chooses!"
