Smile Exercises

A married couple doing smile exercises

In accordance with National Smile Month hitched.co.uk has done some research and collated some of the best facial exercises that we could come up with, in order to help you make the most of your smile on your wedding day. There will be a lot of smiling for the camera, not only by the bride and groom, but by friends, family, bridesmaids, ushers and anyone else involved in celebrating your happy occasion. To reduce smile lines simply follow the below routine in preparation for the big day.

  • Squeeze both upper and lower lips together as if you are about to give a kiss. Then fill your mouth with air until your cheeks expand. Hold your inflated mouth for 5 five seconds and then release. Repeat this exercise three times.
  • Lie down on your back and relax your face. Pull in your cheeks and pucker your lips, like a fish. Hold the facial expression for five seconds and then relax. Repeat this exercise three times.
  • Create an ‘O’ shape with your mouth, but your lips should be parted. Keep the shape tight, but then try to smile using the corners of your mouth. You should feel the muscles in your cheeks move. Hold the expression for three seconds, but repeat the exercise five times.
  • Keep your face relaxed and your lips together. Smile widely, still keeping your lips together. The muscles in your cheekbones will naturally lift. If you have naturally high cheek bones then try and lift your eyebrows to open your eyes a little wider.
  • Open your mouth and smile widely. Work the corner of your mouth by squeezing the sides of your cheeks. This exercise should be repeated five times.
  • Pout your top lip and rest a pencil across the top so that it is resting between your top lip and your nose. Hold for five seconds and then relax. Exercise should be repeated 5 times.
