Ruth and Chris met through work and quickly got together back in October 2004 - but it wasn’t until July 2009 that Chris decided to propose.
Whilst on holiday in Greece the couple thought it was about time to buy an engagement ring for Ruth, just so that they were prepared for when they felt ready to move their relationship on to the next step.
Shortly after buying the ring, Ruth became inpatient and wanted to be engaged straight away but little did Ruth know that Chris had planned to propose whilst on the same holiday. During a karaoke evening on their second week in Greece, Chris stated he was going to get up on the stage to sing an ACDC song. As the music started playing and as Chris started singing, Ruth realised that Chris wasn’t singing ACDC. He was singing ‘I want to grow old with you’ from ‘The wedding singer’. Having finished the song Chris got down on one knee and proposed in front of the whole hotel. It was a wonderful surprise!
