In the evening Martin and Robyn cut into a huge wedding cake. It was made by Robyn’s mum, and judging from the size of it, Robyn reckoned she must have been working on it since her first birthday. It consisted of three tiers, covered in vanilla icing with a swirled pattern.
There was also a cake of cheese for those without a sweet tooth. It featured six different types of cheese, and was served on a 200 year old piece of slate, dressed with fresh fruit.
The resident DJ at The George was responsible for the evening entertainment – Martin and Robyn specified ‘NO cheese!’ and wanted the focus to be on 90s Britpop. Their first dance took place to ‘If I Had a Gun’ by High Flying Birds.
Instead of having a gift list, Robyn and Martin asked for donations towards their honeymoon. Thanks to the generosity of their friends and family they were able to book a dream trip to Mexico and plan to jet off next year!
