Alex and Pollyanna actually had two wedding ceremonies! They couldn’t get legally married at their chosen venue, so they had a legal marriage in the morning followed by the ceremony attended by their family and friends in the afternoon.
They kept the legal ceremony simple – no exchanging of the rings or music, and they had the couple who introduced them as witnesses. They then went their separate ways ready for the afternoon’s celebrations.
Pollyanna was driven to the wedding by her dad with her two bridesmaids. She walked down the aisle with her dad to ‘A Particular Sum’ from Sense and Sensibility.
The ceremony was the most important part of the wedding to Alex and Pollyanna so they spent a long time planning it. They included four readings: ‘The Bear and the Maiden Fair’ from Game of Thrones as Alex’s nickname is ‘bear’, ‘A Lovely Love Story’ by Edward Monkton, a reading called ’59’ which the bride’s mum found from a TED talk and finally the Apache wedding blessing.
They made sure the person doing the reading suited what they were reading out – this helped to make the ceremony feel even more personal. The couple exchanged wedding rings which they bought for each other – Pollyanna’s is a platinum ring with diamonds and is designed to look like a ring of flowers.
