Alastair had bought a beautiful engagement ring to give to Lynda after months of thorough diamond research. He had been keeping the ring hidden in a toolbox in the loft, but decided his birthday weekend away would be a good time to pop the question. When they arrived at the Dunblane Hydro for the two night break Lynda had booked, he arranged for rose petals to be scattered in the room.
Upon returning to the hotel after dinner and a nightcap, Alastair then got down on one knee in their hotel bedroom. Lynda was delighted; she thought Alastair was planning to propose at some point, but it never occurred to her that it would happen so soon. The excited couple then spent the next nine months planning their picturesque summer wedding on the beautiful banks of Loch Lomond.
