Although both Jackie and Ian’s paths crossed many times before, it wasn’t until September 1999 that the couple got together at a night out. Not long after that, at a night out in Inverness, Ian sprung a surprise on Jackie by getting down on one knee in front of a crowd of friends and other party revellers and proposed! Jackie of course said yes and the couple married almost eleven years later at a beautiful ceremony in Oban.
Although the day was filled with love and happiness, there was a touch of sadness too. The year before, Ian lost his younger brother, Maarten, in a tragic accident. Maarten was to be Ian’s best man. The couple had come through a very tough time, and knew that know matter what life put their way, they would handle it together and come through it, together.
