Helen was clear from the start that their wedding would include lots of cake. As she really likes cake, it was important they had a cake table. Her mum and aunt worked hard to make a massive range of delicious sweet treats, including a trifle in honour of her late father, who loved a trifle!
There was a wedding cake, made by Helen’s aunt which featured fresh cream and strawberries and was decorated with a pair of cute rubber ducks.
Altogether the cake table boasted an impressive 28 different kinds of cake, including millionaire shortbread, courgette and parsnip cake, salted caramel cake, maple syrup & bacon cake, vegan brownies, Eton mess cake, lemon and basil cake, cream horns, éclairs, triple Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut, diabetic fruit cake, ginger cake, peanut butter flapjack, almond and coconut macaroons, as well as wedding-cake-shaped biscuits…
They were also going to do a cheese platter but after a few 4am wake ups, worrying about the logistics of the cheese, Helen decided to let it go. If they couldn’t find a cake they liked out of the 28 varieties, they’d have to go without!
