Shikwari Bush Lodge
Shikwari Bush Lodge description
A small, three star owner run lodge, nestled under the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, in an elegant and relaxed setting. Explore our Limpopo Province with its many attractions. We are just under an hour to the Kruger National Park and 15 minutes to Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world; this is the ideal accommodation to spend a few days. We are the first lodge after coming through the J G Strydom tunnel and approximately 38km from Hoedspruit. We are also only an hour away from Magoebaskloof and the canopy tour over the Letaba River.
Brides come and enjoy your stress free wedding set in the bush with great views of mountains. Our bridal accommodation is an elegant suite with King bed made up with fine linen. There is an enormous oval bath in the bathroom and outdoor shower facing the mountains. We can source the decor for your wedding and the menu can be customised to your special needs. You can be assured of wonderful service from this family run establishment and memories that will last you a lifetime.
Our lodge is home to a variety of non-dangerous game such as giraffe, wildebeest, impala, Livingstone’s eland, zebra and bushbuck. Less seen are leopard, porcupine, pangolin and warthog. Explore the bush on foot or in our safari vehicle, with our experienced FGASA Guide, do some birding and learn about the lesser known interesting facts of the bush. Remember to take your binoculars and camera. You might just get a winning shot of our wildlife!
The Drakensburg Mountains above the lodge are home to the Manoutsa Vulture Colony with up to 660 pairs of Cape Vulture. This is the fourth largest colony in the world. Many other raptures have been seen. We are recognised by Birdlife SA as a birding spot and are on the Kruger to Canyon Birding Route.
