Palais Amani

Palais Amani is a luxury, 1920s, art deco riad situated in the heart of Fez’s medieval Medina. The glamorous design and five star opulence makes any stay here unique and forever memorable. Fourteen rooms, nine of them suites, are arranged around a central garden planted with sweet scented citrus trees and alive with birdsong. As with all traditional riads, the building is surrounded by high walls to shield residents from street noise and the fiercest of the summer heat. The Grand suite, also known as the honeymoon suite, occupies the entire 100 sq/m of the south wing of the riad. It boasts its own salon, his and hers dressing rooms, floor to ceiling windows giving breathtaking views of the garden and hills of Fez beyond, as well as a vast bathroom exquisitely adorned with antique mosaic tiling.

A maze of some 9,000 car-free streets and alleyways play host to the medina market which functions almost exactly as it did a thousand years ago. Stalls piled high with saffron, dates, honey, bread and olives are a feast for the senses and jostle for space alongside leather stalls displaying shoes, handbags, jackets and floor cushions in all the hues of the rainbow. Countless traditional carpet, fabric and ceramics stalls add to the riot of colour.  

Honeymooners receive the warmest of welcomes at the Palais Amani. The Grand suite is strewn with flower petals and couples will find complimentary flowers, candles, chilled champagne and homemade patisseries in their suite on arrival. In the evening a candle lit dinner is served under the citrus trees in the garden.
