Beijing Overview

Beijing, with it impressive mixture old and new, is located to the east of China and offers a feast for the eyes. One of the first things to do while on honeymoon in Beijing is to visit the town’s Forbidden City. With it Palace Museum spreading over 250 acres and housing over 9,000 rooms, the landmark is one to behold.

On leaving the City from the north gate, the Gate of Divine Prowess, you will see the magnificent Jingshan Park where a climb to the top of the hill will offer you stunning panoramic views of the Forbidden City and Beijing. In the evening, the city is illuminated with a colour display of lights offering a spectacular honeymoon in Beijing snapshot.

Taking one of the Chinese rickshaws, let the driver give you a tour of the city’s remaining ‘hutongs’, Beijing’s alleyway homes, then stop off at one of the many waterfront bars for refreshments at the city’s Lake Houhai.

Like many major cities, Beijing is well known for its shopping where you can find high-street fashion in the malls, two of which are situated underground of the Grand Hyatt and the Peninsula Hotels. If you’re looking for bargains and souvenirs to take home, then a visit to one of Beijing’s popular street markets is a must: Pearl, Silk Street and Yashow.
While on honeymoon in Beijing, why not opt for an early rise one morning and join the locals as they participate in their daily ritual of tai chi. A romantic walk through the city’s parks will prove an memorable moment and a visit to the Beijing’s Temple of Heaven is a must for all visitors. Considered to be the most interesting and beautiful in the city, this temple is open at 8 in the morning for worshippers and tourists alike.

A honeymoon is Beijing wouldn’t be the same without a visit to see one of the world’s greatest wonders. Stretching for 8,851.8km (5,500.3miles), The Great Wall of China can be located just a few hours drive from Beijing. Like an enormous dragon, the wall winds its way across grasslands, desserts and mountains from east to west and is one of the world’s most fascinating attractions.
