  • Songs for walking down the aisle

    Hey

I am getting married in a reg office the end of June but can't decide what to walk down the aisle to.  I am coming out to Barry White My First, my last my everything.

What song did you or are you walking down the aisle to and when your leaving?

Also did you write your own vows where can I get help with this?

I'm walking down the aisle to Kissing You by Des'ree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt-NwAA3Wvo I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever and knew I had to involve it in my wedding as soon as I heard it on Romeo & Juliet years ago! I was only in my early teens then Laugh

I don't know what we'll walk out to as yet, but we want something a bit more upbeat. Quite like You're My Best Friend, by Queen, but no other instant ideas spring to mind!

  • Re: Songs for walking down the aisle

I walked down the aisle to True Love (from High Society) and we came back up the aisle to When I'm 64. My sister is getting married in November and walking down the aisle to "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder and has arranged for a brass section a'la Love Actually to surprise her H2B to walk back up.

Cos we're having a beach wedding there are going to be 1 pieces of music while everyone is waiting the one when I drag myself down the slope to the beach.

Theme from Much Ado About Nothing then I'll be walking down to Tender by Blur - we finish the ceremony with this!! . I'd also like to use One Day Like This by Elbow somewhere, so perhaps I'll just have it in the evening

I absolutely love this! It gives me tingles everytime I hear it. We almost used it for our wedding but went for something else in the end.  Are you having the song or the instrumental version?

I walked down the aisle to "gift of a thistle" from Braveheart!  Oh my - everyone started to cry!  Even the best man was in tears!!  It was lovely though, we had a string quartet playing it and they were superb!

Good choice Meggy. I adore  this piece of music and would just love to walk down the aisle to it.... but I'd be a wreck by the time I got to my OH. How on earth did you manage to keep it together. I've just listened to it again on You Tube and I'm in bits. I'm hopeless.

Laugh Lou it wasnt easy but I listened to it lots before the wedding and on the day when I was walking down the aisle I hardly heard it!!  Its so weird but you're not even listening to the music just enjoying looking at everyone!!!!

Its lovely though - we got so many compliments on it!

Think we are going to steal your idea!! I was going to get piped down the aisle but never really settled on that idea but I love Gift of a Thistle and Steven said he would prefer that to the piper. Thanks xx

I'm being piped in and out of the ceremony. On reading the notes from the registrar, it says that you can't have any religious songs - which I knew - but also says even ones without lyrics - which I didn't know! I had thought of having Highland Cathedral but I think this is probably classed as religious. Anyone know?

    I know, it's just beautiful isn't it!

I'm not sure really, at first I thought we would go with the instrumental version but thinking about it, I just love her voice and the way she sings it, so may actually have the song itself. I don't know how I'm going to keep it together though to be honest, I well up just listening to it even now!
