SO! Yes, I got married in December 2011....It is nearly 6 months since our big day, and I'm SO pleased to say i've finally finished writing my report. (HURRAY!) I need to add some photo's to it, but I'll make a start tonight with the run up to the day. It will probably be tomorrow night before you'll get the next instalment, but I promise photo's with it!
Friday 9th December
Last day of work. Having been sent home from work the day before due to Hurricane “BawBag” I found myself with a LOT of work to get done before I finished at 3 for my staff Christmas Party. I work across 2 different departments in my work, so I whist trying to get through my workload, I was called into my colleagues office and was presented with a gorgeous card and vouchers for a very nice restaurant in Glasgow (Carluccio’s in case you’re wondering! Apparently it’s a lovely place!) I was amazed at the generosity of my colleagues and really couldn't thank them enough for their lovely gift. I then had to return to my work and I somehow I managed to get everything finished and got away on time.
Across the campus to my other post’s location, a colleague and me were in charge of the Christmas Quiz, so we had to set up for that. It was also her 40th birthday the following day, so I had been busying myself with organising a card and a cake and a wee whip round for her, completely forgetting that it was my last day at work before the wedding. So after we had all sang Happy Birthday and presented the birthday cake, it was then my turn to be given another beautiful card with a very generous gift of IKEA vouchers.
We then went on with the rest of our evening quiz and then headed out for a lovely Christmas dinner in a restaurant by the name of Alla Turca, which is actually a lovely place if you like that kind of food!
As I was driving (It was OH’s Christmas do that night too, and I had agreed to be designated driver) I got in touch with OH to let him know when I was ready to head out and he came to meet me. In true RKB style, it took me longer to get away than I originally thought I would, so I actually met OH further up the street than we’d agreed.
I saw him standing (albeit very drunk) with his hands behind his back all smiles. As I crossed the road he took a couple of steps forward and brought out a lovely single rose that he’d been hiding behind his back. 2 of my colleagues who I’d been with were there to give the “Awwwwww” factor to the moment. I was at that moment so excited that I was getting married in 6 days time.
Saturday 10th December
This wasn’t as busy a day for us as we were amazingly well organised. Quick trip into town to get gifts engraved
and pick up the last of the wedding gifts.
Went for a lovely Lunch in Roma on Bath Street. Had an actual laugh out loud at a couple
walking past Berketex Brides. The girl
was looking longingly at the dresses in the window, and the boyfriend’s face
was an overdose of apprehensiveness.
We had a lovely evening in wrapping gifts and getting our things together for
Sunday.
Sunday 11th December
It was MIL2B’s birthday! So we all took the annual winter trip up to the Christmas Shop in Crieff when OH and I bought the candles for our ceremony, had a lovely lunch and headed back to MIL2B’s house for cake. I ended up booking an appointment to get my nails done on the Tuesday with MIL2B and her other Daughter in law. We also decided to give out our thank you gifts at this point. MIL2B got a framed print of a painting she loves. OH’s SIL got a lovely charm for her bracelet. BIL2B got a Sgian Dubh, our nephew got his first guitar and our littlest niece got a wee bracelet with her name and the wedding date engraved on it. MIL2B then gave us a beautiful ornament and a rather large amount of money as our wedding gift. Afterward OH and I headed home. We opened a bottle of wine in the evening and planned out the rest of our week. It was a very relaxed evening and I was beginning to think that I was much more organised than I gave myself credit for.
Monday 12th December
I spent most of the day wrapping presents for everyone, and
generally just chilling out as I had a slightly busier day ahead of me the
following day. I ordered SKY to be
installed on the 19th. It wasn't until afterwards I realised that I had ordered
it in what would be my maiden name when it arrived. I figured it didn’t matter and that I would
sort it afterwards. (Still haven't i might add)
Tuesday 13th December
The busiest day of the week (wedding day not included). OH had
to go and pick up the Kilts from the hire shop, which meant a nice wee lie in
for me again. Got a text from one of my
bridesmaids to say that she would be in Glasgow at 3.30pm the following day,
which meant that I’d need to rearrange a couple of things so that I could go
and pick her up from the train station.
So after picking up the Kilts, OH was back to pick me up for my
hairdressing appointment that afternoon.
The weather had taken a nasty turn and was blowing a gale and starting
to snow. Great! What was Thursday going to be like? I quickly came to the conclusion that there
was no point worrying about it because I couldn't change it. So into the hair dresser I went. And came out blonder than before. OH nearly didn’t recognise me as I walked
towards him. He loved it though and
commented on how it wasn’t unlike how it used to be when we first got
together. We then had to go to OH’s mums
to pick up things to go to the venue and I was getting my nails done too. We ran into a small problem with the ribbon
for our OOS! But my mum phoned to say
she had lots more of that ribbon so I said I’d pick it up the following
day.
When we eventually got home, I had a lovely relaxing evening with a glass of wine while OH tidied up the house because I had to watch I didn’t ruin my nails before the wedding.
