What was the last household electrical item you bought and why?

Blonde Viki, 10 of June of 2012 at 09:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 36

I have just bought a new kettle as the one we've currently got has broken, doesn't switch off when it's boiling! ?

I think mine was a hairdryer as mine blew up on me! ? Was properly scary!
Yeah, I try not to buy household electrical items....makes me feel far too domesticated. Hehe.

My hairdryer blew up too! One morning before work it just went bang!

Havent bought anything electrical since then but we do want a new 4 slice toaster as ours is only 2, and then I would have to get a new kettle to match...

We bought a steam generator iron.. I hate it, H loves it.

There was nothing wrong with the old iron, but H insited he needed it for his kit, and it would make the egyptian cotton bedding easier to iron (he was wrong).

    Vax carpet cleaner.

Kids made a massive mess of the carpets and rugs, something had to be done.

I blummin love it. *saddo* Although, I felt like a right Dingle when I saw how much dirt came out. I blame the previous tennants for that...

Umm, I think it was an electric bread knife thing. H likes making his own bread and one came out a bit sharp baked ie the crust was like concrete.

    Do shoes count?

I can't remember the last thing I bought for the house but my hairdryer broke so I need to replace that. Sadly the one I have has been discontinued so I'll have to find another.

More of a variety of purchasing than I expected!

This is true for me as well, my hairdryer is on it's last legs but it's the best one I've ever had. I am keeping my eyes open for a new one too but it will be a hard act to follow ?

I think the last electrical thing was bought by OH, it's an all-singing, all-dancing remote that controls everything TV/surround sound/DVD related, and if even turns the sitting room lights on/off/dims. I'm struggling to use all it's functions at the moment, although OH assures me I will get the hang if it and has hidden all the individual remotes so I have to use the new one.

I want a toastie maker. One of those old school ones that seal the edges of the bread and put and little pattern on each triangle.

Ours was a new Hoover because our old one was rubbish and didn't pick up anything. Our new one is amazing! It's a Stihl Hoover (Same people that make chainsaws) It's super industrial looking, and i LOVE it!

Last electrical item was a new flatscreen tv for the bedroom...

Thought we would need a new microwave last week as the door release mechanism broke while I was heating mushy peas!! Fortunately Mr C rescued said peas and fudged fixed the door thingy.

We will get a new one when we move I think... along with new kettle (leaks), new fridge (too small), new dishwasher (was here when we moved in and is falling apart slowly), new hoover (ours doesn't actually hoover much up) and a breadmaker (just because!!)

A toaster, because ours just stopped working. Got my dad to try and fix it and when he picked it up, about 4 years' worth of crumbs fell out - think that might have been the reason for its demise!

Last electrical purchase was an Xbox 360 and Kinect for H's birthday at the end of April, last household electrical purchase was a new kettle and toaster, because I saw them in John Lewis and fell in love with them, which immediately reminded me I am definitely getting older !!

Exactly the same as you...although OH bought the new kettle and it was probably the cheapest one Argos had so it wasn't really an extravagant purchase!

To add to the coincidence, ours was a bargain Argos kettle too - partly because we have an Argos within walking distance of the house but also because we haven't had the kitchen done yet, so we took the opportunity to get something mad that doesn't go with anything else we've got!!
