  • Bl**dy dog!!

Our 6 month old pup Oscar is kept in the kitchen overnight as we dont like him wandering about the house when we are asleep.  When we got up this morning he had chewed right through the fridgefreezer wire, the plug was still in the extension.  Hes lucky he didnt blow himself up.  I dont have a clue how to fix this other than wiring up a new plug.  H was at work when I found it so when I told him he was confident he could sort it.  I dont have a fridge just now!

There is loads of chew toys in the kitchen but no the pup prefers the taste of electricity!   Grrrrrr!

    Oh dear!

This makes me very grateful my rescue dog has never chewed things.

I remember the distress when I was 6 and our german shepherd chewed my brand new, not even worn yet, patent leather Magic Steps. Gutted.

About 10 years ago I saved my a*se off for six months to buy a pair of designer shoes.  Had a lovely shopping experience in Selfridges where I found the perfect pair.

That weekend we looked after my mum's dog.  I had a bath and when I came out of the bathroom the sight I saw broke my heart.  I am sure you can guess the rest.

Even thinking about this story now brings back the rage...

Oh no CG. My littel Ray is 6 months as Kate said hearing these stories makes me so greatful that he doesnt chew anything other than what he is supposed to and my slippers. He is left in the kitchen for the majority of the day apart from when my MIL takes him out.

    I'm glad he's ok.

    Trickers I feel your pain!

chewed right through the fridgefreezer wire,

Our pup did this twice!!!!!  We had to improvise as like you we did not know what to do either.  H screwed a paint tray over the wire so pup would stop trying to chew it!!!!!

    Good luck x

Oh no! Your right your puppy is lucky!  But that's rubbish you don't have a fridge!

My parents have an Alsatian (sp) Huskey Cross.  She turned 1 in February and parents though she was old enough to not need a cage any more....how wrong were they.

She completely destroyed a mothers day card my little brother had give my mum.  (mothers day coinsided with the aniversary of my uncles death, so my mum was very emotional that day as it was) The cage was reinstated and she got a right rollocking off my dad for her misbehaviour.

She was left out one day and My little brother came home from work to find that she had chewed up a torch (one of those 'light of a million candles' ones, and my little sisters snappy camera.

She heard my little brother coming in, ran through to see him all excited, he walked through to the living room and she ran for her bed and cowered like she knew she was about to get into trouble.

I got another rabbit at the weekend (He's actually the son of the rabbit i have already)  And i'm glad to say that he's got the same mannerisms of my current bunny....Just licks everything and digs the carpets...

H has now sorted the wire/plug so the fridge freezer is now working again. The pup is so lucky as it's plugged into one of those extensions that has surge protection so when he's chewed it I think it's short circuited and stopped him getting a shock. I imagine the sight and smell of a fried dog isn't pleasant!

This is why Shea is crated at night!  Glad pup is ok!

  • Re: Bl**dy dog!!

Tray our pup is crated too but we don't lock him in he gets too upset if we do!

  • Re: Bl**dy dog!!

We got rid of our puppy's (11 months old) crate 2 weeks ago and we've not had one incident since. I feel very lucky!
