  • Anyone got any BAD smooch ring stories?

I've seen a lot of ladies talk about having appointments with smooch, and getting their rings from them. They've all seemed really pleased.

If I hadn't have seen that I wouldn't have entertained them I don't think, the fact that they give you 3 pieces of free jewellery just for having an appt would tell me they over charge for their merchandise. And they just post the rings to you, which would scare me! (I think this about buying any big purchase online, though). Maybe I have a bit of unconsious snobbery about their unconventional selling methods, home calling salesmen tend to be pushy and there is nowhere to take the merchandise back to if you encounter a problem.

I have requested an appointment with them there purely because a lot of the girls on my hitched facebook group have spoken about them and I haven't heard anything bad, so far which gives me confidence in them. Just wondered if any of you have had a bad experience with them, though?

    Thanks all : x

Hi, I had a salesperson around last week and I have to say that he was great, not pushy, let me look at all the rings loads, try I don't know how many on etc and he was really helpful. I did end up choosing my ring with them as it suits my engagment ring perfectly and I also added two extra diamonds in so it's more personlised. It looked great quality and felt heavier than others I tries on in jewellers and was of great quality I didn't know bout the free gifts so a bonus in my case. It was only a fraction more expensive than others I had been looking at in shops too.

I assume that the rings are covered by insurance to be posted out and the P&P price reflects this. As I am getting married in about 8 weeks the salesman is also pushing my order through quicker as they usually get them delivered 8 weeks before the big day.

The rings have  life time guarantee, will be re-dipped (in case of white gold) as many times as you want and and they even guarntee to replace the diamonds should they fll out as they are confident they won't.

I m genuinely happy with them so far and cannot wait to get mine now!

    Good luck whatever you chose.

TherE had been a couple of bad reviews but the company figured out who from by flashes of their rings and called the customer to say they were less than happy they had shared their opinions etc. so I presume people are a little worried about being honest.

I had a moan on their Facebook page when the rep didn't turn up, and a few days later when she did eventually come, she had heard all about my moan and had a little dig. I was mortified that she's heard about it and didn't think it was very professional. She wasn't pushy during the meeting though.

The rings were lovely, good quality and with good aftercare, but we went elsewhere because they were comparatively quite expensive. The rep continued to text me repeatedly to see if we wanted her to come back to show us the rings again. I ignored her for a while, until she said she was able to offer a discount if we ordered before the end of the month. When we asked what the discount was, she quoted us more than the original quote. That put us off and we went with Joshua James

lol nah we really have had a good experience i promise

  • Re: Anyone got any BAD smooch ring stories?

Her had them out and I wasn't impressed at all. The sales guy was definitely pushy, and was here for longer than I would have liked...he didn't seem to want to leave without the sale. I didn't like their prices, or their jargon...as it happens we found a local jeweller who offered exactly the same rings for not much more than half the cost of Smooch. The local jeweller supplies the raw metal to many companies and told us that they refused to work with Smooch due to their pushy sales methods. All advisors purchase the rings, and then have to sell them to make any earnings so it's just your luck how pushy your salesperson is.

I had a bad experience with them. h2b was in the army and in between going on tour and moving barracks so we were keen to get an appointment before he went away. so we booked it, confirmed it the friday before (appt was on sunday) and then waited for our appointment. got a call in the morning to say they werent coming to our 10 am appointment and they would be coming at 6pm. i explained h2bs situation and said he needed to leave at 730 to drive up north so he could get back to barracks. they promised the meeting would only be an hour and that would be fine.

cue 6pm and i get another call saying the guy is running 45 mins to an hour late. i was a bit upset but i said i had to cancel as h2b would be leaving and there was no point choosing my ring only.

so then i get a call from the guys manager and he starts giving me excuses about the guy not getting there for 45 mins, i explained my situation and all was ok or so i thought. THEN i get a call about 15 minutes later with the manager saying how selfish i was that i had cancelled the appointment and practically shouting down the phone to me about how heartless i was because the woman they had just seen and made them late and was dying from cancer and she would be dead by the end of the week.

needless to say we didnt rebook and i complained... but thats obviously customer service rather than product.

in the end we got our rings from hatton garden and they were gorgeous and not as expensive as the initial quote we had from the rep at the wedding fair. the rings were also custom made in hatton garden :)

I haven't had an appointment with them, but I saw a rep in a wedding fayre last week and I just commented on how nice the rings were and she was so pushy, trying to force me into an appointment. I know in these types of shows they push a bit but she was almost aggressive! Really put me off!!!

This happened to me at a wedding fair too, although it was with a man - at this point I still hadn't found my ring and was looking for something shaped to match in. He was quite rude when I said that I was just looking, and tbh the prices put me off a bit too.

We had a rep round and I found him far too pushy. He didn't actually tell us the price before packing up my engagement ring to ship off and I had to ask him for it back! Plus the price was waaaaaaaaaay over our budget. I know loads of people on here were really happy with them though.
