flash ur unusual dresses plz :)

Fletcherette, 12 of January of 2012 at 12:18 Posted on Planning 0 36

So the day where my mum and me go to find the dress of my dreams is drawing ever so near... (oooooh excited much??? lol)

As my wedding is only very small I am thinking of having a tea length dress, or something with a high-low hem... just something a bit different from the usual floor length with train dress really. (I may chage my mind and end up going full on princess lol but for now this is my train of thought ? )

so can you show my your slightly different dresses please? I would love to see them!! ❤️

No pictures of mine yet, but it's going to be pale silver silk dupion, corset with full skirt with embroidered organza sleeves and matching train with diamantes on the bodice, it's going to be very dramatic!

I've only just picked out my dress, but it might not be exactly as pictured as I'm having it made by a dressmaker to my measurements instead of getting it from the ungodly expensive designer. What I love most about this dress is the coloured lace and burgundy velvet ribbon! Aside from that it's your basic taffeta sweetheart bodice and tulle skirt.

I love the idea of shortening the dress to wear again! I love the idea of a tea-length tulle skirt, but as its white it really would still be a wedding dress. I suppose you could easily swap the skirt for a different colour!

not the best photo but this is what i wore to the registry office. it was a plain sweetheart dress - actually a dessy BM dress and then i added the belt. coat and brolly needed for winter!

Sorry to derail from the OP, but a friend wore this dress at her wedding in 2007 and looked absolutely stunning.

OP - have a look at Vivienne of Holloway for some beautiful unusual tea-length dresses. I love her stuff!

My dress is pretty unusual and I’m so happy to see I’m not the only one who has gone this way! All these dresses are beautiful.

Mine is an original 1950s dress, it’s ankle length at the front and just skims the floor at the back. It’s entirely covered in lace, with lace sleeves as well, and I’m having the back adjusted so it is open to the waist. I’m also having a petticoat made to give the skirt a bit more fullness.

My main problem is that I can’t actually see what it will look like until the seamstress has finished with it. It’s all been based on my imagination really, and I keep panicking that it will be a disaster! I will have to get some photographs when it is finished.

Hi, no pics yet as I have only just decided on my dress today!!!! After trying on lots of bride dresses and being horrified at prices, I have opted for a bridesmaid dress but made in dark ivory ... it looks very wedding like but without the price tag!! Very fitted and I hope my H2B will love it ? .... I also think i'll have it made shorter so I can wear it again ... was thinking of going for a totally different colour but chickened out!!!

    Good luck
