Actually I just want to go in, have our baby and go home end of ( we had a long complaint that dragged on with L) o and I'd like my mat leave to cover Xmas and new year ( which it will)

I'd buy nice maternity clothes and even nicer maternity / nursing underwear.

I'd have some bump pictures done.

I'd like time to enjoy my pregnancy the same way I did with Z - so probably do something like pregnancy yoga so have time to connect with "my baby" and be just the two of us.

A normal natural birth (but in reality I'll be having an elective c-section as it's the best way of reducing the possibilities of a GA as much as possible)

Enjoy the days with my newborn baby rather than just being traumatised and spending my time apologising to her.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

A must not have, should I be able to choose, is SPD!

The thing I'd really like to experience in pregnancy though, is no fear.  After a missed m/c with our first pregnancy, I spent most of R's pregnancy scared about losing her.  I didn't fear the nuchal test results, or labour, or anything like that - I was just sure that one day I'd go for a routine appointment, and the midwife would say 'I'm sorry...'  I got less fearful as the pregnancy progressed, but I don't think I mentally thought I would actually have a baby until I was about 32 weeks - and the early weeks were just awful.  I felt like I held my breath every morning on waking, until I got a kick from her.

If I were pregnant with my last baby (as a #2 would be) I would like to have one of those BFPs where you get to be 'normal' and think 'oooooh, we're having a baby!!!' and not 'ah, we're pregnant, I hope this one lasts'.

That's all a bit self indulgent, isn't it?  Sorry.  Others have had it far far far worse.

Hudson was my last baby, Mr kmw had the snip 8 weeks after he was born and we both knew that was going to happen.  I LOVED my pregnancy this time so much, I treated myself to a nice maternity wardrobe, nothing seriously expensive but lots of nice things from H&M etc and nice underware.

I took loads of bump pics and even a nudey one Embarrassed

I had a home birth and have breastfed (something I really wanted to do desperately with the first 2 but never managed it for long)  I was quite pushy, I didn't go out for a week after he arrived, we spent lots of time snuggled up and I sling him so that I can hold him close (and I can do things that are needed)

Most of all I relaxed, 3rd time round and I knew what to expect, ie that you can't rush anything, baby will come when its ready, labour isn't something you can control, it happens and it will ends but ulitmatly you hand the control back to the body, you can't force it to do anything.  I was extremely lucky that I was looked after by a team of 3 mw's with one who was designated to me, they were called the case load mw's, I had all my antenatal visits at home with the same mw and she was amazing, she made a massive difference to how I felt during pregnancy and during the delivery.  I am so pleased that it happened the way it did, I have no regrets,  I will forever be broody for that snuggly newborn smell but I know that I am finished having my own children.   Its actually a very lovely feeling..... contented I think Big Smile

    Sorry for the huge waffle

  • Re: If you knew you were pregnant with your last baby

I'd like a guarantee that I could have the same prgnancy and labour that I had with N. I started my pregnancy with N the same way MG describes, and for the same reasons, but settled far more quickly than I ever thought I would.

I wish I knew it would be the same again next time.

And I want time. Time to sleep in preparation, and time with the baby once they're born.

And I will take the full year m/l next time.

Oooh - a more positive one... I would love love love a waterbirth!  I so wanted R to be born in water, but I was bleeding a bit more than average on arrival, and the mw said she'd be able to monitor my blood loss better if I stayed on land.  I don't regret agreeing to that, as I had a wonderful labour with R.  But in hindsight, I would have gone for the pool anyway, and if there was a next time, would definitely have that as a 'must have'!

No induction, no "flashing lights" as I had last time which eventually left me unable to drive.

And on a lighter note nice maternity clothes and underwear!

Agree with 1st baby about the no stretchmarks too...
