  • Walker Rec's Please

C loves standing up and will happily walk with you holding her hands. It's her birthday next month and no idea what to buy so thought about a walker but I didn't want one that would run away with her. Is there a walker out there that has wheels that have some sort of friction on them so that baby has to push it rather than it just running away with them cos the wheels are free running? Links would be good so we can possibly ask grandparents to buy it.

Not sure if I explained that right well but hope you understand what I mean. Just off to get I from school and off out for the afternoon so will check back tonight.

    TIA Thanks

    "Bear" Walker and Activity Centre

We got Matilda this one for Christmas by Oodles of Toys.

Does that just have free running wheels though? I'm sure I've seen one with wheels that have something slowing them down.

Oh, just looked and they don't seem to have it anymore but OMG! I want one of these prams for Matilda. They would work as walkers.

It's really heavy so won't go unless it's pushed on a lot IYSWIM.

Just be careful which pram you choose if you want to use one as a walker, after accidents at Mums and Babies where little ones have used the prams as walkers and have tipped them up as they aren't heavy enough to support the baby leaning on them.

This converts from a walker to a ride on

(pircure of it as a walker on this site...http://www.toyandmodel.com/baby.html)

We had it and ended up lending it out to various friends as it was a good  slow walker.  No friction specifically, but both mine could use this about 6 weeks before the standard v tech ones.

And then its a ride on for when they have mastered walking.  Genius!

We initially had the VTech walker for Zoe as so many people recommended it, however with our wooden floors the wheels just when too quickly and she never really got to grips with it.

We got the fisher price walker / pushchair

You can kind of see on the picture that the wheels are more fixed against the frame, they do turn but much slower so it doesn't run away.  I also thought that we might get a bit longer use out of it with it being a dolls pushchair as well as a walker.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

We have this walker too and I couldn't recommend it enough. It doesn't go too quick for Ruby, even on our laminate floors and it looks really pretty too.
