Nothing like a well balanced article is there?Confused

It's the bag slings that are dangerous isn't it not ALL slings? And as usual the comments are hilarious!

The most i can do is roll my eyes....

hope my mum doesnt see this article. Up till now she just has the fear il fall and squash the baby....

  • Re: Daily Mail - Slings are evil!

The concern is over the bag slings ONLY, yes. Though of course whichever sling you use you need to make sure that baby is positioned correctly and well supported.

There is lots of excellent information on this facebook group

    http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/BabywearingSafety?ref=ts

There are entire cultures where prams and pushchairs don't exist and babies spent their lives strapped to caregivers until they can literally stand on their own two feet.

My mum told me to make sure I don't drop the baby whilst using my Moby.   Gosh Mother, thanks for noting that.  What would I have done without your helpful comment? FFS Angry

What a stupid article, typical scaremongering - very irresponsible. I have just bought a bag sling for #2 and someone on here (I think it was Corinne) very helpfully posted some links on safety - far more useful than this kind of daft reporting. I'll hunt and repost them here as it was helpful.

Oh I just love the Daily Fascist, and some of the readers comments are priceless

  • Re: Daily Mail - Slings are evil!

Grrr - am really raging at their complete lack of basic journalistic research skills.

Many sling brands issued a statement a week ago (http://www.hotslings.com/sling_safety_release) to clarify that bag slings were the dodgy ones - the babywearing community has already been aware of this for years (http://carrymeaway.com/slinglady/safety-first-proper-positioning-of-a-newborn-in-a-baby-carrier/). I'm disappointed that the Babasling is marketed by big brands - it is very deep for a pouch and I don't rate it (though not a 'bag sling')

It is immediately obvious that the DM pic of Nicole Kidman shows a poorly-designed and -fitted sling (for starters no shoulder cupping, bottom of sling way too low).

Here's the other safety discussion, if not already posted: http://babyslingsafety.blogspot.com/

    A ridiculous article as usual.

I don't know why I bother reading the reader comments on these things, they always just make me angry!

Thanks for this Corinne, I always appreciate your slinging knowledge and thanks for reposting the really useful link you gave me the other week.

Well because I obviously got one because its a fashion accessory rather than anything to do with trying to do something for my child...
