  • Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

Ok I bought this on myself when I decided to have 6 bridesmaids! But they are sisters and closest friends so I wouldnt have it any other way!

We are starting to have a look at bridesmaid dresses and designs now and to be honest I am not too fussy. I wasnt bothered if they were long, short, strapless, strappy and I have even given them a choice of colours- Midnight Blue and Ice Blue. They can all have ice blue as thats the main colour or 3 can have one and 3 the other.

We are all meeting next weekend to try and make some sort of decision (I am ordering from Light in the Box) so at least we have an idea in mind for ordering in a few months.

My question really is how much do you think the dresses could differ or do you think they have to be the same design? So far no-one can decide on one!

Would it work if some were short and some were long or if they were all different! (not ideal and not really what I want but I dont want unhappy bridesmaids either!)

At the moment I am really liking this dress- there are 2 size 8's, two 10's, a 14 and a 22.

It's a lovely dress.  I would make sure that your size 22 and 14 bridesmaids are happy with the choices as the skinner ones will look lovely in anything.  I know this sounds a bit odd and maybe rude, but hopefully you'll get my view on this.

It was my size 22 bridesmaid who choose it, I think the covered bust and straps are appealing.

I understand what you mean though about body shapes, I think this is where the difficulty lies. They all have their insecurities, the smaller ones around their chests which again I think this dress gives them an opportunity to wear a good bra if they'd prefer.

    Thanks x

  • Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

Thanks everyone- I do think this might be the winner.

As the wedding is January I hope to get them a nice fur wrap anyway.

Emsa1- I most certainly will flash when I have ordered them, not sure when that will be yet though. I also like to see Light in the Box flashes but so far haven't heard a bad review I have to say

I think they are lovely and would suit size 8 or size 22

  • Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

Have they actually tried any on?  I'd get them to try some on before you make a final decision, it will certainly change their mind.

I have to slightly disagree with the "slim girls can wear anything".  I was BM in 2008 and had a size 12 dress, the other 2 had a size 4 and size 0.  It took us a while to find something that suited the skinny minnies.  In the end, my curves worked in my favour  Smile

Hey Laura:) Thats a tricky one - although i think you are best to have them try on some similar styles before you order. Also I think that you could have different styles of dresses as long as they were in your colour scheme as the others have said before it will be hard to find a style that fits all, suits all and all feel comfortable in.

    Hope this helps x

    P.s love your colour scheme:)

Thank you all for the advice- I think a shopping trip is in order- never a bad thing Big Smile

They are all so sure what suits them and obviously they know best! Geordiebarbie- a size 0! Eek

agentblackcat- thank you, its been a nice colour scheme to work with but surprisingly difficult at times..

Lucy- planning is good, even though I feel like its taking over my life, since I got engaged I haven't had a single day without thinking about it (like everyone I imagine) and even though i've still got over 10 months I am already panicing! How is yours?

Indeed - and it got taken in!!

So many dresses were discounted before I even got to put them on cos you could see her bones and she wouldn't have them.  She's just naturally skinny!!

I do agree about curves- I have to say my smaller BM's have many more insecurities than my curvier ones who are pretty happy with their shapes.
