  • Nursery fees- how much?

Just been to see the most amazing nursery- very small 22 kids (most part time) in 5 acres they do home cooking, lots of activities, going on adventures through the fields, etc. A real home environment- like a child minders but bigger rather than a commercial business run nursery.

Just wondered what the going rate was (quite alot of websites don't say) and does this inc food?

Is it really bad that we don't want to see anymore nurseries? Should we force ourselves to at lest go around a few more options?

Both H and i are very instinctive people which has got us into trouble sometimes- going out for a pint of milk and "popping into the RSPCA" and getting an abused german shepherd is our best so far. So thought maybe we "should" see more.

But maybe we'll just fill in the form tonight!

The one sarah will be going to is £36 a day and includes nappies, 3 meals and 2 snacks. We are out in the country tho - I know its quite a bit more in town.

    Hi,

I live near the coast and have 2 in nursery. The oldest is 4 and goes to the local school nursery 3 whole days a week.  She gets breakfast, 2 snacks & drinks provided and I send her with a pack lunch.  That costs £21.50 a week.  My youngest is 15 months and does to a private day nursery and it costs £33 per day includes 3 meals, 2 snacks and drinks + nappies.

I think you get a gut feeling about a place.  I looked at 4 nurseries, and enquired about 1 more.  I ruled 3 out straight away. I had a favourite but they could not offer the days I needed so I went with option 2 which I was still happy with but it was abit of a trek across town. Luckily about 6 weeks before I returned to work my 1st choice called to say they had the days I needed.

    Too much!!!!

really depends where you are in the country - we are in Surrey and its around £48 for a full day, so somewhere over £1000 a month if you go full time Eek (and the government want to encourage us back to work - sorry nursery costs are a bit of a sore point for me!)

  • Re: Nursery fees- how much?

I paid £444 a month for 2 days a week (have just increased to 3 but can't rmember what the new charge is) - I think that works out to about £50 per day.  That includes all food but not nappies or wipes.

    WOW!

I'M shocked- the one we really want is £41 a day with food no nappies/wipes. So sounds like average really so yeah!!!!!!!!!

I know, it's a lot isn't it.  Think they saw me coming.  We're down Berkshire way though so that might make a difference.

We pay £47 a day, which includes 3 meals and 2 snacks a day but not nappies, wipes or formula.  There is a discount for full time - effectively one free day a month.
