  • HRML - Shall I go to town tonight/did you go 'out' much when pregnant

By 'out' I mean out drinking out although obviously not the drinking alcohol part obviously!   Although I used to love going to town in my early 20's, the appeal has lessened over the years.  I can't actually remember the last time I went out, probably last summer.  OH goes sometimes with his mates but not very often.  TBH I'd rather go for a quiet drink, a meal or the cinema.   Anyway SIL and her partner are going out drinking tonight to town, OH is going and has asked if I want to go.  I don't know if it's a good idea, I don't know if I'd feel 'right' somehow with a massive baby belly.  I don't know if I'd feel a bit self concious/out of place?

I went out 'drinking' on my work leaving do, but I got quite tired and bored of it by about 10pm and came home. This was the result...

(*note, no alcohol or cigarette smoke was consumed in the making of this photo Wink)

It was fine at first but as everyone else drinks and things get louder and you can't have a conversation, it gets a bit dull. It was fun earlier on though so maybe go for a bit but be clear you might want to come home early.

lol love it!!  Laugh   I'll be driving so at least I can come home when I want I suppose.  It's all that pushing and queueing up and noise and general drunkeness of everyone else that puts me off!!!

  • Re: HRML - Shall I go to town tonight/did you go 'out' much when pregnant

I have been invited out on the town tonight but at 38 weeks have decided that I can't be doing with all the drunk people and being squashed up and having to stand for a long time so have declined. I am saving my going out for after baby is born when I can drink a bit.

I can't remember the last time I went "out" but it was a long time before I got pregnant !  I am an old fart and really only do meals out now.  I guess as I don't drink alcohol either it makes it less appealing to be surrounded by people slowly getting more and more obnoxious.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

I went to a wedding at 37 weeks but left at about 9pm as i'd had enough by then. i went on a couple of work nights out up to about 25 weeks but apart from that i rarely ventured out in the evenings but then i was sick most evenings up to 20 weeks and after that i was usually too tired!!

Laugh i'll remind you of this in a few weeks - i haven't been out in the evening once yet as A seems to feed a ridiculous amount between 7-11pm.

    Are you me?! Laugh

I love going out for meals or to the theatre etc but as for a night drinking, I can't think of anything worse!

Please don't burst my bubble that I will be able to go out soon after baby is born!! Laugh To be fair I am not a big party animal - used to go out about once every 3 months but did get absolutely hammered!! H has only seen me drunk about 10 times in the 10 years we have been together as I so rarely go out but says that I am a rubbish drunk as I end up throwing up everywhere!!!

I went to my friends 30th party when I was 38 weeks,  had a good time and enjoyed a boogie though I was aching and shattered the next day, it really took it out of me!

It does get boring as everyone else is getting drunker and you're just getting tireder!

This is me then! (an excuse to share a preggy pic, haven't done one for ages, fluffy!) Obviously the blonde fat one.

going out in the traditional sense is npt my cup of tea at all! If we go out its to the cinema or to a mates house generally. Can't remember the last time I went to a pub in the evening (they are mainly used for lunch time meals these days!). We went to the cinema once when I was pregnant and I got so uncomfortable I was practcailly crying bu the end of it!

I was pg pre-smoking ban so tried to avoid pubs as much as poss but still enjoyed going out for meals and to friend's houses.  I'd say enjoy it whilst you can - won't be long before you have to pay for a sitter and plan evenings out with military precision!

We've been out to the pub about 4 times since i got my bfp. I drink lemonade and H probably has 2 or 3 pints of lager at most then we come home for about 11pm. It makes a nice change actually and i do enjoy it. Smile

I went out a lot while pg with A - not very out out, but still lateish and bars. I'd say 95% of the time it was fine. I only had maybe 2 nights that I felt bored and annoyed and that was through not drinking rather than the bump. So I'd say go and if you don't want to stay late then just come home.

I went out for my friends birthday last christmas, I was around 28 weeks. The meal was fine, but I only lasted 1/2 hour in the bars afterwards as got fed up of being shoved and pushed about. Understandable though as I wouldn't expect to be careful of big baby bumps when I'm out on the razz!
