  • MILK! Ok, I'm intrigued now - how many muslins do you have?? And random uses for them?

I've just been on Hepburn's clothes thread and her list says 24 muslins.  Doctor DooLittle has said she has 40 and that seems to be enough for her LO (not criticising DDL - I'm genuinely fascinated, especially by where you keep them all??! ) Our few take up an entire small drawer in the nursery!). And now I'm really intrigued, because we started with 9 muslins and when Izzy got to about 9 weeks and started posseting like crazy, we bought another pack of 3.  So 12 in total. Izzy's not been much of a dribbler, and I never needed them for catching excess milk when BFing, but was very sicky for several months (still a little bit now!), and 12 has been plenty, even using a couple a day at one point.

How many do you have?  And how many do you take out with you, while we're on the subject?

Thinking MILK - uses for muslins?  Obviously I use them for wiping hands, face, nose, as an improvised change mat, a picnic blanket, a BFing cover up, mopping up coffee after Izzy tipped my mug all over us and the floor ...

We have 16 and that is plenty for us, but then using cloth nappies means we are washing every other day so they get washed very often!

And we use them for all the things you have mentioned, as well as wonderpets capes for Aliya, and togas, and skirts, and dresses.....  Also good for improvised bibs!

Oh, and if I am going out for a shortish time I take one, if all day I would take 2.

    I think about 16!

In and out the wash so quick I've always got a decent stash.

Have halved my qty to 12 now Laugh Perhaps 24 was excessive! x

We have 17 and I thought that was a lot.  Someone was saying the other day that they remember that Zoe as a baby always had one tied around her neck which is very true - she was a refluxy baby !

    So, our uses are :-

    • emergency nappy
    • bib (always use a muslin for when she has a bottle, never used an actual bib)
    • mopping up anything & everything
    • makeshift sun hat
    • toy tie to stop her chucking teddy out of the pram
    • underneath her head when asleep to stop sick going on sheet

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

We have a standard pack - so maybe a dozen I think?

Ooh JB, you've just reminded me.  Once Aliya went onto formula we used to fold a muslin in half and put it under her bib as she would soak through everything whilst feeding!

We have about 12 in varying colours - white, lemon and pink.  My LO has adopted them as comforters so I don't use them to clean things as she sleeps with one and uses it throughout the day if tired, wanting a cuddle.  My first had a comforter which I was never able to replicate and now 4 years later it is full of holes and on its last legs!  My youngest doesn't  mind if she has a yellow one, pink one or white.  I make sure I change it at least every other day.

We must have about 20. I keep some in our bedroom for nightfeeds, some in the living room for day feeds, we take 3 when out and about (if out for the full day I take more) and I store any extra in a wicker basket in G's room. 20 has been fine and ensures that we have some available for all 3 rooms and the changing bag...

I think we've got about 12-15, used mostly on the change mat for catching 'leaks' and drying bums after nappy change.  Other uses: wiping noses, bibs, wiping sick of me, her, the floor!

I keep 2 in my change bag and generally bung them in with the nappy wash

I think we had at least 20.  Both of mine were possity or full on sick daily, so we got through a lot. Ours were deposited all over the house - kitchen drawer, down side of the sofa, bedrooms, car, changing bag, and some in the washing, so 20 sounds a lot, but actually wasn't once they were all spread out and used every day!  I used them as light coverings in the pushchair in the summer, cleaning windows (the really old manky ones), have passed some on, and still have some just sitting in the drawer because I don't know what to do with them.  Jack likes using them for teddy capes (flying teddies).  I'm sure they'll all get good use one way or another.

How could I forget that Zoe sleeps with one everynight, she doesn't seem to be able to sleep without wrapping it around her head and has done ever since she was tiny.

We have about 12 I think. M was never sicky though so literally used when she is having a bottle.

She goes to bed with one too.
