  • I know i am over reacting but just need a vent...

i have told Mil2b for months that as soon as my mum has chosen her outfit for the wedding i will let her know the style and colour so she does not clash with her, low an behold, Mil2b went shopping on saturday and ordered her outfit knowing that i was taking my mum on wednesday to sort an outfit, now my mum has got to buy her outfit around her ohh she makes me so mad at how selfish she is..

sorry ladies had to get that off my fingers!!!!

Are you angry as you consider yor Mums outfit more important??

I [personally think that both my mum and MIL2B's outfits are very important and would want them both to look lovely. I think they are going to go shopping together for their outfits.

Sorry you feel so mad about it though

Personally i would let my mum chose whatever outfit she wanted to and say sod it.

And Mr and Mrs T lived happily ever after (well apart from when they were arguing or not talking to each other)

thats exactly how i feel, the shop that she went to (and now ordered her outfit from) is the same as the one that i am taking my mum to wednesday, if i hadnt said anything to her i wouldnt have minded,

i do want them both to look lovely but i was under the impression that it was the dont thing that the mother of the bride chose her outfit first?!!

I personally have never heard of this. Maybe I am a bit different as I get on so well with my MIL2B that i pretty much treat both my mums the same now. I wouldnt consider either of them to have the upperhand when chosing an outfit, I would want them both to have what they want and feel comfortable

In which case i woud go there let my mum chose what ever she wants, not look at or be influenced by what your mil2b choose and then look afterwards and you may be pleasantly surprised that they go together and if they dont just dont stand them next to each other in any photos!!

Tradition is for the MOB to be either a shade lighter/darker than the bm's. But then not everyone follows this tradition!

my bm are in aqua, my mum is in aqua and my mil is in gold.

my mum actually picked her outfit before i picked my bm colour because i couldn't decide what i wanted so i had 2 swatches and waned my mum to pick closest too and that would be the colour! then day after i ordered my bm dresses!

both my mum and mil are going to be in similar styles too!!

i would only be peeved if my mil had picked aqua!! since my mum's in it or if she wore white/ivory to out do me!

apart from that we're playing happy families :)

Ive never heard that MOB chooses hers 1st. Personally I dont think it matters - as long as they dont wear the same one!!

from some of the posts i've read and weddings i know of, i know in some cases the mothers do try and out do each other and panic about getting their outfit  first, but hopefully both ladies will have different tastes and it won't be a problem.

I have also never heard this, I don't really think it matters what they wear so long as it is appropriate and they feel comfortable.

  • Re: I know i am over reacting but just need a vent...

i've never heard of this either- i know both the mothers can get quite carried away so i'm staying well clear- they can wear what they like!

  • Re: I know i am over reacting but just need a vent...

I agree with you meggles.  My mum is wearing pink and grey which fits with teh colour scheme whilst i think my mil2b is planning on wearing gree at the moment. They are both fully aware of the colour scheme, flowers, decs etc so what they choose to wear is up to them.  The only time i would get truely mad is if someone turned up wearing the same dress as me!!

When my daughter got married I gave her a choice of two dresses, she chose this one!
