  • pondering nursery colour schemes- please can i see pics for inspiration?

at the mo our spare room(which will be the nursery) is lilac so trying to decide what to do decorating wise before H has a week's holiday in febWink the carpet is a biscuit sort of colour and will be staying.

could either poss stay lilac if we have a girl (we don't know yet)

or we could paint it a pale green or yellow

or go for a cream or neutral shade

i'm totally undecided at the mo- would love to see pics of your nurseries for inspirationThanks

We havent done ours yet but we've bought some bits to do it and know what sort of thing to do. These are girl ideas but this is what we have

and lots of pink cellular and fleece blankets. We bought this stuff when they had the sale so we didnt pay those prices!

A lot of our house is green-gold colours so we were going to paint the walls pale green and have the pink accessories - kind of like a secret garden theme. Probably a colour like this

and I want some patchworky curtains which I found on ebay with pinks and greens.

Our furniture is all beech, would have probably gone for white but we had the changing table and I bought a matching bedside cot for a bargain price.

I love looking at nursery pics!

Aliya's room  was painted with 3 walls in a pale yellow and 1 in a light aqua (carpet a beige colour).  We then put up aqua curtains and picked bedding that had a jungle theme.  The only thing missing from these piccies was the pictures that we put up - cartoon style jungle animals.  We knew we were having a girl, but I didn't really fancy doing a full on girly thing, I liked the idea of bright, interesting colours, and lots to look at!

This time we have kept all Aliya's old bedding as spares, but have also bought the baby something new - I felt sorry for the poor thing having so many hand-me-downs and wanted to pick something new, just for him (we know we are having a boy).  The room is painted pale blue - dk blue carpet - pale blue curtains (not our choice, it was like that when we moved in).  I don't have any piccies, but we have gone for this bedding:

And I am making some artwork to go on the walls, using stretch canvasses and felt to create the fish/crab/seaweed shapes and make them into pictures (at least that is the idea!! lol).

There are some gorgeous sets here:  http://www.maternityandbabyshoppingmart.com/girlbabycribbeddingsets.aspx  Perhaps not practical to buy from, but great for inspiration!

This is gorgeous (in purples): http://libertyhousetoys.co.uk/index.php?cPath=65_81&osCsid=pfeum57jjmub2u1p96rj2ukab6

If this baby had been a girl, I think we would have gone for this set:  http://www.newbabynurserybedding.co.uk/cherry-blossom-cot-bed-bedding-bale-907-p.asp    I think it is absolutely beautiful!

We haven't done it yet but are painting room a lemon colour. The colour is biscuit coloured and we have gone for all white furniture.

We chose this design for the bedding etc

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Nursery/Coordinated-Bedding-Ranges/Jungle-Chums-CotCotbed-Bedding-Set(0020421) - we bought the moses basket, bedding set, changing mat and gro bags in this design and then have bought some pictures for the wall including this one

Pip - I think pink and green are a lovely combination.  I like lilac and green as well.  In fact, when we moved I had hoped to do Aliya's new room in lime green and lilac, i'd found some great stuff for it.  But she was absolutely insistant that she wanted pink butterflies, so that was that! lol.

Perhaps I should start working on Mr S in the hope that he thinks lime and lilac would be a good combination for our room...yeah, can't see that happening any time soon! Laugh

When we were having Holly, we didn't find out what sex she was, so plumped for pale green walls with lemon yellow gingham curtains.  We have some stickers on the wall in a sort of gingham zoo - I'll see if I can find pictures anywhere (you'll see what I meant then Laugh)

For Charlotte we decided to keep the room as is - no point in changing what was already a nice room

(The room has a wooden floor so is very neutral)

ooh CD looks like we're having similar nurseries.

We're painting the room yellow and have had some jungle themed bedding for ages (the only baby thing I had for a while!)  http://www.mothercare.com/My-Jungle-Family-bed-bag/dp/B002HEY2DS/sr=1-1/qid=1262796818/ref=sr_1_1/277-6414611-8630355?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42764041&mcb=core

We have been given furniture from random people so nothing really matches but I was planning on just dressing them up with animals so it wouldn't be noticable.

I should probably get moving on getting it sorted heh.
