hi all, im more of a lurker but in need of some words of wisdom please and your honest opinions on my 7 days of madness:

1/12 -1st day of last period

28/12-Next period due and nothing, no symptoms of period starting (12dpo). Did a coupleof tests of the next few days, all BFN but a first response showed positive when i went to throw it away after 20 minutes. the lines were pink so im thinking they were not evaps?

1/1-BFP on clearblue digital with FMU, pm brown spotting (16dpo). Makes me 4+3

2/1-spotting turns to red but not heavy, only when i wipe

3/1-spotting goes heavier but no clots and only enough to wear a pantyliner. Spoke to NHS Direct who advise going to A+E to be checked out. Waited 2 hours and was told that their test was negative so im not pregnant. i queried my BFP on a digital and was told to go home and wait a week and maybe somwethig would happen. I lost the will to live at this point as the doctor just looked at me daft and was so uncaring when i said so am i miscarrying or is this a false positive? Was told their tests are the best so who knows Tongue Tied Came home and did another test at 5pm-BFP with clearblue digital and very feint line on internet cheapie

Yesterday-went to doctors and explained situation and that i just wanted to know was i pregnant and/or miscarrying. He rang hospital and they told him that they did not do a high sensitivity test just a normal strip test. He gave me a sample bottle and asked me to submit one with FMU so he could get results, he also told me to make an appointment with a female doctor for an internal examination which i have tomorrow (weds) at 10.10 and they will give me the results at the same time. Bought a further pack of two clearblue digital (just dont want faffing with lines!) and got a BFP on that, again showing 1-2 weeks. I even took the tests with me to prove to the doctor that three could not be wrong? I was still bleeding but it was much thinner (TMI sorry) and lighter. Ive cried my eyes out to my boss who gave me some time off to rest.

Today-did sample and at the the same time did internet cheapie and the last clearblue digital (that company are giving me an award for best customer in JanuaryStick out tongue at this rate). BFP on clearblue-1-2 weeks and BFN on internet cheapie.

Im lost, really i am. I know i have the results of the urine test tomorrow and the examination but cant help think i can only get a BFP on clearblue. I have evn rang clearblue to ask if they have faulty tests and they said they have had noe reported and as i used different batches with different expiry dates they would think that 4 cannot be wrong (but are willig to investigate should I not be pregnant.)

So there you have it, do i feel pregnant? I think so but this is my first so i have nothing to measure against. I feel slightly nauseaus, but i don't have sore boobs which seems to be every doctors indicator. I have been suffering with insomnia, achy legs, frequent drinkig and the weeing to go with it and very minimal tummy pains, just tiny cramps and none that last longer than a few minutes. The bleeding is hardly there when i am resting and today i feel great after a good sleep and a nap earlier.

    Thanks for getting this far!

Clearblue digital are one of the most sensitive tests so if you are earlier than you originally thought then it could easily be that the internet cheapies just aren't sensitive enough to pick it up yet. Is it possible that you ovulated later than you thought? I got BFNs on internet cheapies for a week after I was due with this baby but there's definitely a 36-week brute wedging its feet under my ribs now. The bleeding could be implantation bleeding and if you aren't in any pain then that is a good sign.

The A&E doctor sounds awful to be so dismissive. I've got everything crossed for you tomorrow x

  • Re: In Total Limbo

I had similar to you, the limbo, bleeding etc. So I know how the waiting is so very difficult.

AFAIK the only way they can be sure is to test your HCG levels over 48 hours. I'd think a CBD would be correct and it may just be too early on the cheapies, but the key thing is to get your HCG levels checked over 48 hours.

If your test tomorrow at the Dr comes back positive, ask for a blood test to test your HCG levels, they'll then test again in 48 hours and if it's a true pregnancy the levels should ahve doubled over the 48 hour period.

Take the tests and show the Dr (although the digital display may be blank by then?) and if their urine test comes back negative make sure you query as to why the CBD's are saying positive.

I think your best option is to ask for your HCG levels to be tested though, if they rise and continue to do so this is a sign of a true positive pregnancy.

About the bleeding, I had this from 3+1 right to 4+1 and then it stopped. I even had a few clots but no pain. Mine turned out to be a light period bleed despite being pregnant, and I had another bleed at 8 weeks. There are a number of reasons why you could be bleeding but if you are pregnant then they need to refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital for it to be investigated. Again the hospital would want to test your HCG to ensure a true pregnancy and they'll ask if you have any pain etc. Once you reach 5 weeks they may scan you to see evidence of the interuterine sac, whihc may also explain the source of the bleeding.

Overall, please try not to worry although I know personally how hard this is. Push things with your Dr about the HCG levels and ask for a referral to the Early Pregnancy Unit if they confirm you're pregnant which it does sound like you are.

Shout if you want to chat.

    MKM xx

Hug you must be going insane you poor thing. i can't believe how insensitive some doctors areAngry totally uncalled for.

i'm inclined to think that if you keep getting bfps that you must be pg. the tests that the drs use are the really cheap ones so they often don't pick up as early. if you are only 4+3 maybe that's why they aren't showing up.

lots and lots of people get spotting and bleeding in early pg and all turns out to be fine, and cramps are also fairly common so please try not to worry yourself too much.

i'm keeping fingers crossed for you and hope that your results come back fine tomorrow. take care of yourself x

Thanks for your reply, I was only so "sure" about the ovulation dates as I have used the first response monitor for 6 months so was relying on that really. I got my first peak that month on chart day 15 and then day 16 with it going pack down on day 17.

Maybe the monitor was out with the highs though? I feel like im such a fraud though after seeing the A+E doctor. My OH said i looked so upset when she said i wasn't pregnant. As i explained to him, the dismissive shrug was like i had gone into a shop and asked if they were getting anymore stock of a pair of shoes i fancied and they just werent sureAngry

Thanks for the other replies, i should be 5+0 today according to my Last period dates. I will ask for the bloods tomorrow if it is negative/positive. I am hoping that as its my gp doing the investigating they wont be so quick to fob me off, but i need to show them just how upset this is making me as well. I had a total meltdown yesterday and i really dont wan't to start getting into the negative thoughts until I know for sure either way. I keep telling myself it is all ok and that the hospital were busy but i wish she understood just how she made me feel with her comments. As an aside, when i was lay on the bed waiting for the doctor, a nurse came in and tried to take my blood pressure and nearly crushed my arm. My OH said whe he left that he never actually got the monitor to work and gave up Tongue Tied

MKM-Three tests have gone blank now but im hoping the one i did today lasts until tomorrow to come with meBig Smile

Ive even taken them apart to see how strong the lines are, thats how barmy i am going! They were strog thoughWink

Boozle, I'd be cautiously optimistic if I were you!  I had heavy (AF-like) implantation bleeding from 9dpo until 16dpo, sounds a lot heavier than the bleed you have had.  Fingers crossed for you that it just turns out to be a simple implantation bleed xx

  • Re: In Total Limbo

hi lovely, I hope you are ok xx

Ibasically went through the exact same things as Might Know Me at thecsame time as her, although mine did end in m/c.

It might be worth googling early pregnancy units in your area, this is what I did. I gave them  call and they said they would see me ibut they needed a gp referral, so I asked my gp for this which she did. I did have to pursuade her though as she wanted me to wait abother week and take a test then and see if it was still + but I couldnt wait!!

As MKM siad, getting you hcg levels checked would be best as that will show whether the pregnancy isprogressing so when you see you gp tomorrow see what they say!!

Gppd luck, and I so hope things are all ok, they sound positive though xxx

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying, i went back to work today.

This morning i had a call from the doctors to cancel my appointment due to the snow and the doctor not being able to get into work. They said they would  rearrange the appointment for next wednesday which i explained was not suitable, they the put me onto another doctor who said my results were not through yet but she promised to see me tomorrow for an examination should the results of the urine test be positive. I called back a little while later and was told the test results were negative. Sad Here ends where they would examine me as its negative and nothing to look at.

I then in desperation called the early pregnancy unit. They wouldnt see me but to be fair spent a lot of time talking me through things. The nurse advised me that should it be a miscarriage and the fact that the bleeding has virtually stopped she would expect by the weekend for the results to be negative on a clearblue digital and said i should re-test Monday. If the result is positive then i could take the test and the urine sample used to the doctors and demand further tests. She said by my dates i would be bordering on 6 weeks and a scan would be done in the EPU then. I explained how i felt i had been badly treated and that it had caused me so many problems and she was very sympathetic.

So thats it really. I still don't know and to be honest have given up at this point. I will re-test Monday and see. This morning i felt so sick but really don't know whether that was just nerves or morning sickness. I don't feel able to fight it much more this week as I have been bordering on panic attacks at one point which isn't going to help. I know had I have seen the doctor i could have demanded bloods but that opportunity was taken away by the snow fall Super Angry

I told the EPU that if Monday comes and its a negative i want the opportunity for a miscarriage to be put on my notes should any further things happen in the future and she agreed. She did say that that the hospital/gp tests are 25mlu and that maybe mine is more sensitive but on checking the notes on a clearblue digital they are the same and I am adamant i ovulated on CD 15/16 and that conception was not later but maybe it did?

Anyway, thanks for all your advice ladies and Kiss to all who have been through/ going through similar, its been the weirdest 7 days of my life but should it all be over the we will TTC again in the not too distance future so I will be back! Thanks for all your support.

    Hi Boozle

Really don't know what to say to you, sounds like you've done everything you can in terms of calling EPU etc and looking at getting your records kept as complete as possible.

I hope you get a positive result on Monday, but meantime have a Kiss
