  • Doesn't look like things will be happening anytime soon

I've just come back from the midwife. Last week I was 50% effaced, baby was fully engaged and the MW was really optimistic that things would be starting within 48 hours.

Fastforward a full week and I've seen another midwife. Head is not only no longer engaged, but not even in the pelvis Sad She refused to even do another sweep when the head wasn't even in the pelvis.

I've now got to go in for a scan next week and then be assessed on New Year's eve and they induce me on the 2nd. If they induce me I can't have my water birth and MW doesn't seem to think that anything will be happening anytime soon.

I'd really got my hopes up that things were starting to happen and now it seems I'm even further away than I was at 36 weeks, at least baby's head was in the pelvis then Cry

Hug Oh DDL I'm so sorry that it wasn't what you'd hoped. I had my fingers crossed that something would be happening for you soon.

    Gem x

Aww no sorry to hear that!  Get bouncing on your ball and maybe that will try and move baby back down to it's right place! x

DDL - have a Hug lovely.

Remember babies can be awkward, but that things can happen quickly! I mean Toby did his gymnastics of all three positions within the hour!

<stern voice> Gilbert - you need to come out NOW. I will let you off the dramatics <sob> if you show willing and make an appearance so that your mother can get her water birth! <stern voice>

Don't give up hope yet - there is still over a week for things to get going. You know where I am if you need me Kiss

    Hug You poor thing.

When exactly is/was your due date?

I know it's frustrating, I've been there. At the same time of year, 4 years ago. I was due on the 9th, I was induced on the 18th, she was born on the 19th. I didn't have big concerns about induction as my hospital doesn't have a birth pool anyway iyswim, but I hope you get your water birth!

It will happen. Just when you think its never going to happen it will. Trust your body. Don't worry about the induction just yet, that's ages away. No-one can really tell before it happens when your labour will start.

Keep active, as much as you can. Its not much longer to go.

  • Re: Doesn't look like things will be happening anytime soon

Thanks guys. I'm completely gutted TBH, I've just about had enough now, I am so uncomfortable I just can't keep this up much longer. I've sat on my birth ball and sobbed, MrDL has been giving me hugs.

I'm going shopping now and I'm going to buy stuff to bake some cakes this afternoon to keep me on my feet.

Lots of hurry up Gilbert vibes for you DDL, hope things start soon x

Im sorry it wasnt more positive news chick.  Things can happen really quickly though, babies dont always engage until youre about to go into labour anyway, keep on your feet as much as you can and try not to worry about induction yet, its a while off and things could change.

Have a massive Hug and know that I do feel your pain xx

FWIW, Sarah was fully engaged at 36 weeks - MW actually asked if I'd been having contractions she was that low. 38 weeks she was completly not engaged and I went into labour the following week - here's hoping gilbert is just bouncing in and out and is back in place soon!

really sorry to hear that DDL - get bouncing and remember that babies can move around within a few hours so gilbert might well get engaged again shortly x

Oh big Hug DDL - my mum has told me (numerous times recently!) that she was in the middle of making a christmas cake when she went into labour with my brother - and he was born before the cake was cooked - so get baking!!!!

  • Re: Doesn't look like things will be happening anytime soon

It can happen quickly, even when you think it won't.

I was really disappointed as my waters had gone with Holly but had no contractions - she was born 7 hours after my contractions started a couple of hours later

Bless you Debs, I am tutting at my screen for you. You sound so fed up, I wish we could magic Gilbert downwards with our vibes! I really hope he is just snuggling back up for a short while and like others said, it really can change quite quickly. But totally know that what we say can't make you feel any better, so will just send you a guge squishy hug and tell you I am think of you.

    xxx Hug
