  • Cake Flash Please!

Can we have a cake flash please??  I've been mooching for ideas without much luck.

I'm having a 3 tier stacked cake and want it to be quite plain & simple.  Had thought of pink ribbon and some pink gerberas on it but since i've made all that up, I can't quite imagine what it will look like.  Our Mam's are making the cake (my Mam bottom fruit tier, his Mam top 2 sponge layers)

So, since I know you all love a flash - please flash me your cakes!  Or ideas...  Smile

    Thanks!

It's a bad picture but it's white with pearl studs all over, white ribbon and iced roses on top. Very simple!

We had the simple M & S cake and had ribbon and little floers put onto it.

The bloody venue women stacked it wonky tho (GGGGRRRRR) oh well one of the only things that went wrong om the day, so i cant grumble too much!!

  • Re: Cake Flash Please!

I don't have a cake to flash but wanted to say thanks GB for this thread was thinking of starting it myself this weekend.  I need to order my cake in January so I need to try and make a decision soon.

I'm like you and have thought of something simple with a coloured ribbon and flowers.

Heres what  I've seen that I quite like (the left one is in my colours):

I like the 2nd pic Gillsy.

I dont really know what mine is going to look like till the day before as my sisters OH cousin is making it for us, its got to be transported down from Birmingham the day before. If I dont like it, it will be a M&S job, haha!

Im getting an M&S cake and a bit stuck on how to decorate it too so im no help whatsoever but thanks for the thread GB.

Also are there any advantages over having the tiers separated instead of stacked directly on top of each other.  We are having 1 layer each of fruit, plain sponge and choc sponge so were going to put it out as dessert on the evening.  Will it be too difficult to separate and cut up if we have it stacked?  (hope that makes sense)

Gillsy I love the 2nd pic too!

  • Re: Cake Flash Please!

thanks gb.. i need some inspiration on cakes i have an idea of a fruit top layer and then little sponge fairy cakes for the rest but need some idea of how to stack and how they would look... lol

  • Re: Cake Flash Please!

Haha!  Seems we all want inspiration!  Stick out tongue

I like that 2nd pic too actually Gillsy - even though it's not quite the plain thing I was imaging!  Smile  Id I ignore the extra lines on it, I think that's the type of flower arrangement I want.  But I quite like the extra lines.  Wonder if thin bits of ribbon could be used for that effect...?

    Any more out there??

Gillsy i love both of those pics,  i cant help with the flash thing but we have ordered ours we are having 40 cupcakes (two different ) flavours and then a 6'' top tier white iced with a flower of scotland tartan ribbon around it and a fresh flower spray similar to my CBM wrist corsage and then we will have deep red/burgundy rose buds dotted between the cupcakes!  happy cake hunting, the taste testing is the best bit, although does nothing for 'the wedding diet'!! lol x
