  • Phoebe's mouth is full of ulcers :( - UPDATED

And this is why she's on a nursing strike Sad And hardly eating. And is completely miserable.

I have tried to make a doctors appointment but they have nothing available until Wednesday.

I am going to try out of hours but can't ring them till 6pm. But is it worth my time? Is there anything they can do other than bonjela?

    UPDATE

She has hand foot and mouth Sad I have Difflam spray, clotrimazole cream for her poor bottom and also Dystatin drops.

Oh bless her heart ulcers are awful Hug

I'm not sure what they can give infants, maybe try having a word with the pharmasist?

    Hope she feels better soon.

Any of the teething gels/liquids will help - anbesol is the one I use.  I'd go and have a word with the pharmacist Hug

Gargling with salt water is a great cure for ulcers

I appreciate you won't be able to get her to gargle but could you try and dab salt water onto them with cotton wool?

    Thanks all.

She's asleep at the moment. I'm as much concerned about why they have suddenly appeared and why so many as how to treat them. Shall try the pharmicist

anbesol is the best thing to mke ulcers feel better, nd salt water for healing. Salt water will sting quite a bit so I usually (on me) numb my mouth with anbesol then rinse with salt water so it doesn't hurt as much. Hope they heal soon!

Oh no, F had this around 8 months, was horrible. He wouldn't feed/eat and was so unhappy, crying loads. We were told to give painkillers and loads of bonjela (although, tbh, it just made him cry more so I gave up on that one), but that was all as it was a virus.

    Hope they clear soon Hug

I had a mind once, now I have small children.

    its not thrush is it?

i would definitely take her to see the doc. they might be able to give you something milk wise that will bulk her up if shes on strike?

if its thrush, then she'll need antibiotics.

hope she gets better soon though. i used to get a mouth full of ulcers when i had braces and when i got recurrent tonsillitis and used to have to survive on bulk up milkshakes as i could eat. its horrid so i really feel for the littlen Love

I am pretty sure it isn't thrush but I would never say 100% certain.

I get the occasional ulcer but never this many at once. It was the number of them that shocked me

I could be wrong but does she have any of the other hand foot and mouth symptoms?  Its going round here the their mouths look like they are full of ulcers.

  • Re: Phoebe's mouth is full of ulcers :(

Erm yes possibly - she always has a rash on her bum but I did notice some spots earlier. Can't see anything on her hands though. She hasn't got a temperature at al.

Our 2 baby friends round here have it - ulcers, spots on bum, legs and tops of feet and one of them has spots on his hands.  no noticible fever now....apparantly the feeling poorly bit if before the spots start.

A couple of links for you.

Not that i'm saying it is of course, its just having recently seen a couple of cases it could be an explanation for sudden ulcers.

Thanks for those links. I just changed her nappy and it's more than a rash on her bottom so it certainly seems possible.

Got to wait another 45mins before I can ring out of hours and she's constantly crying and pulling at her nappy. Won't feed either

Oliver had this a few weeks ago and the Dr said it was this.

    http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Cold-Sores-Primary-Infection.htm

He had them all over his mouth, tongue and on his gums didn't help that he was teething either.  Kept him dosed up on calpol for a day or so for the pain, went back to soft foods so he would eat something.  It horrible when they're ill you feel so helpless.  Hope Phoebe feels better soon
